Just a heads up guys that there's a discussion going on over on the Griff forum about the now (apparently) unobtainable Fiesta Mk3 servo used on the later S, Griff & Chim.

I recently bought a new servo from Hans but it's now looking like there are only a few left at Racetech at a rather painful price (~£540).

I know some of the folks here have discussed this (& thanks again to Norman for his helpful listing of part numbers).

I've offered to help the Griff guys if they are looking at this but all other thoughts appreciated. Seems sensible to combine our efforts rather than chasing this separately. Looks like it's getting to the point where we need an easy to fit alternative or a new manufacturer as stocks of the Ford OE part are pretty much exhausted.

It would be worth talking to someone that deals with this type of kit about the problem. Power Track Ltd deal with a lot of classic stuff so should know whether there are any near enough alternatives available.

I have found them very helpful in the past.
Rob.
Thanks Rob - I'll ping them an email

Joe - I know used is an option (although are those the right model?) but even those will be running out at some point.

I think it's quite a big job on a Griff/Chim to change the servo so I know the Griff/Chim boys are after a source of new parts.

Might be worth investigating mondeo servo on the back of this info
Not sure if servo diameter is too big but I'm sure someone will work it out...

Chris - I looked at a few of the Fiesta to Modeo/later Escort guides. Most seem to have comments about getting a more modern brake feel. I suspect (although haven't done the research) that the newer Ford servos used are giving more assistance (bigger as you suggest).

Personally - I don't like "a more modern brake feel" - I find most modern brakes over-servoed and a bit dull. I like the S because it doesn't have lots of servo assistance.

BUT - just my view and if it keeps someone's car on the road then that's a good thing!

Good news - PeteGriff over on the Griff forum is having a look at seeing if he can adapt a Ka servo.

Also had some positive feedback from some TVR suppliers that the problem is being though about and they are working on it.

TVR Parts have recently had a batch of servos made - link

I believe this is the same as the S servo but do check.

Hope fully this will complement Hans' excellent service in keeping our cars on the road.

Minor detail but this is TVR Parts, not TVR Car Parts who closed some time ago and Neil of ML Performance took over their parts side.

I confess I am a little puzzled and if anybody contacts TVR Parts perhaps they could clarify it. They have quoted only the TVR part number, not a Ford, Lucas or TRW number so I cannot do a cross check. However from the limited TVR part numbers I have it wouldnt appear to be the same as the 'Ford' servo on the S. However the TVR part listing is confusing at best. I would also have thought TVR Parts would have listed the part as suitable for the S (and indeed some Wedges) if it was. We would need to clarify this. The price looks almost too good to be true!

I am supposed to be contacting TRW formally on behalf of the TVR Car Club, must try to get round to it a.s.a.p..
Richard - apologies for causing confusion - fingers and brain not connected!

I wasn't sure if this was exactly the correct servo but I'd seen someone mention it in another thread and thought it worth adding so people can at least investigate.

I'm hoping it's the right one for the S and I agree, it's a good price if they've had them re-manufactured. Best no-one tells them though wink
