Next step, is to include a few photos so people know what we are talking about.

Then once i've got some photos of V6 varients i'll do a bit about the differences.

Are the following statement correct

S1----- 2.8 engine
S1.5----2.9 engine
S2------2.9 engine updated car mainly rear suspension
S3------2.9 engine new chassis
C-------car with cats
S4------2.9 engine new body uprated brakes
V8------4.0 engine

"all "S" series cars except a very few V8 and S4 cars can be de - catted legally, as any car built before 01/01/93 does not need cats"

Any more to add to differences

Cheers so far

"If your still unsure about buying one by yourself you can always get a specialist* to inspect it for you, cost a bit for the inspection but well worth it, or you can buy from a reputable dealer"

*specialist does not mean AA or RAC but the likes of Rob Ingleby etc

I would even have linked to his website but it seems forever down :sigh:
