North London Summer Meeting - 2nd August 2009

Better news about my Strat's engine. The problem was a 'foreign body' which got through the Alfa engine's belt guards, hurtled around a bit, so causing the horrendous grinding noise and then got hurled out through the guard causing a hole the size of a fifty pence piece.
So, other than a timing belt change and a repair to the belt guard, all is well.
Thank fk for that! I feared that I was in for a third engine rebuild in less than a year.
Nonetheless, she won't be there on Sunday. Here's a photo of the belt guard showing the damage where the object smashed through.

Hi Andy (and all!)
Glad you enjoyed the hoon. Shame there was so much traffic around to start with - never sure when to overtake if you're at the head of a group, but I think we managed to keep track of everyone. Apologies again for the speed bumps at the start - I didn't mean to go that way, but I was having so much fun I missed the turning. They weren't quite as big as I'd feared (having only been over them once in the comfort of the daily driver) and I think everyone cleared them okay. I'll certainly be using that cut through again in the future!

Still riddled with flu, sorry I was unable to join you all. Did anybody take any pictures?
Question: next meet? First week September, whilst there is still the chance of half decent weather?
Can I suggest the weekend after? I'm away on the 5th.Question: next meet? First week September, whilst there is still the chance of half decent weather?
BTW Freddie, sorry I still haven't got round to calling you about the aluminium, been distracted by other matters sadly.
I can't make first week in September either. I'm down on the coast. Plus, I think that it's a bit too soon......
......plus, I'd like to be there next time because I saw a lot of admiring glances in the direction of my Civic EX as I 'sped' away from the venue last weekend. I'd like to give the guys an opportunity to have a look at the 1.8 that lurks under the bonnet.
