28/5/05 PH meet - "Son of PH Pint in Enfield Anyone?"
Discussion
Two years in the making... We have...
The PH Enfield Meet on Wednesday 28th May at The King & Tinker, Whitewebbs Lane, Enfield.
It's a great pub - good food, good beer, a sizeable car park and set in what you city types would describe as countryside.
Shall we say 7:30 kick off? All very welcome.

If you mean the Honda Civic EX...NO!
But I will bring the Strat...although Freddie, you are not allowed near her as you aren't bringing the C type.
Alas C Type attendance depends on finding a secure garage in London, our company is in Bucklebury, and whether it is needed for demo on the day. Will try though. Would be fun to find out which is louder. Your Strat or the C at 105 db @ 3000 rpm. But I will bring the Strat...although Freddie, you are not allowed near her as you aren't bringing the C type.

No C-Type? Doh! I was looking forward to seeing (and hearing) that. It seems six cylinders is the way forward. Or possibly, in my case, the way backwards through a hedge.
I've given up trying to find a house with a garage in the immediate future. I'm going to rent a lock up somewhere in Enfield so I can bring the car over.

I'll be there.....only four cylinders for me though.
Chris71, I was in a similar position to yourself in that I had no garage for my track car. I spent ages looking to for a lock-up to rent but found nothing. Then I was told about council garages. Basically the council has garages unused and available for rent all over the place. They give you a bunch of keys and send you on your way to have a look and pick one based on location/condition etc. The best bit is I only pay something like £7-8 per week!
You can add as much extra security as you like in the form of latches/padlocks and they only ever need a weeks notice when you've finished. If you have any probs they are fixed promptly. I'm led to believe private lock ups are far more expensive.
Have a look at your local council website and they often have info about them on there. In fact a quick search on Enfield Council Website : http://www.enfield.gov.uk/115/index115.htm#P1_0 - ignore the waiting list bit. I got my garage on the same day with the first week apparently free!
HTH

I was thinking...(never a good sign
).
Old Screwie here ^^, you are from outside the M25. Maybe, to get the numbers up, a post should be put on the 'Herts, Beds & Bucks' site. We are, after all meeting outside of London really.
There are five of us so far - assuming Batteryboy sees this thread
and the more the merrier I reckon.
The more people that we can get to the first meet, the more likely it will take on a life of its own and become a fixture?
And then we shall become famous in the PH world, and songs will be written about us and our struggle to put this first meet on, all of the hardships which we have been through over the past 2 years, and how we stuck together even when things were looking desparate, and all the girls will want to sleep with us and...and....
Just a thought.

Jonny - I tried for months to get a council garage at my old place. Eventually I got one via Duddrich Holding (lockupgarages.co.uk or something). They're not cheap, but they do have a reasonable selection and a choice.
They're actually based in Enfield and they've said I can move from my Chelmsford garage to an Enfield one on the same rate, without changing my contract. I think I'm going to do that and hope I've found a house with a garage in Enfield (living their currently in my girlfriends flat, but we're looking for a bigger place together...) before my contract expires.
Blib - great idea! More the merrier.
Speaking of which, the done thing for PH meets seems to be starting a list. Here goes....
1) Chris - TVR S3
2) Blib - Stratos
3) Freddie - C Type (he just doesn't know it yet
)

I've posted on the Herts,Bucks,Beds forum and I notice Chris that you've done the same in the Essex, Kent one.
Today, the 2nd May 2008 is the second anniversary of the first post on the original thread.
I feel that we should each, in his or her own way, take a little time to quietly contemplate those who went before us. Those like the original poster Che6mw, Tangoman and Smirnoff. The pioneers who tirelessly and without thought of their own wellbeing struggled in the early days to make possible what we will enjoy in 26 days time. Who knows where they are or even if they are still alive
I propose a toast when we meet. to 'Our Forefathers'.
Excuse me, I have something in my eye.
