Two years in the making... We have...

The PH Enfield Meet on Wednesday 28th May at The King & Tinker, Whitewebbs Lane, Enfield.

It's a great pub - good food, good beer, a sizeable car park and set in what you city types would describe as countryside. biggrin

Shall we say 7:30 kick off? All very welcome.

No C-Type? Doh! I was looking forward to seeing (and hearing) that. It seems six cylinders is the way forward. Or possibly, in my case, the way backwards through a hedge.

I've given up trying to find a house with a garage in the immediate future. I'm going to rent a lock up somewhere in Enfield so I can bring the car over.

Jonny - I tried for months to get a council garage at my old place. Eventually I got one via Duddrich Holding (lockupgarages.co.uk or something). They're not cheap, but they do have a reasonable selection and a choice.

They're actually based in Enfield and they've said I can move from my Chelmsford garage to an Enfield one on the same rate, without changing my contract. I think I'm going to do that and hope I've found a house with a garage in Enfield (living their currently in my girlfriends flat, but we're looking for a bigger place together...) before my contract expires.

Blib - great idea! More the merrier.

Speaking of which, the done thing for PH meets seems to be starting a list. Here goes....

1) Chris - TVR S3
2) Blib - Stratos
3) Freddie - C Type (he just doesn't know it yet smile)
4) ...

Good to see the list growing.

By the way, did anyone else have a copy of The Loop drop through their letterbox this morning? smile

clap Wohoo, double figures!

Just got hold of a garage in Enfield, so weather permitting I'll definitely be in the tiv. Bringing it over at the weekend and looking at the (rather fine) weather forecast I might have to go for a bit of a recce.

Wohoo! Nearly twenty people! smile

This week I have actually been living and working in London, so I kind of feel justified posting in this section now! Transfered the tiv to its new (and now temporary) home in Enfield on Saturday. On Sunday evening I decided to go out and explore and it was one of the best drives of my life! The first bit was a rather miscalculated decision to take the M25 round to St Albans to try and pick up the B656. It was so congested I went up the A1 as soon as I got the chance and joined 'said b-road from there onwards. The first bit was pretty good, but from Langley onwards (I think, can never remember which place and/or road is which!) it became fantastic. From Hitchin I took the B655 out to Barton Le Clay and that was so good (and, I hasten to add, empty) that I turned round and did exactly the same thing on the way back. I'm not entirely sure where I went from there. I headed back on the B656 initially, but at some point I headed off (onto the B1000 I think) and ended up in Hertford. I then took the 'famous' B158 back to Potters Bar. Hardly saw anyone else 'till I got back to Potters Bar (about 9pm on Sunday) and I was grinning like an idiot.

It's not just the car either - we've also found somewhere for me and t'other half to live, although it is almost the opposite side of town to Whietwebbs! (Anyone for a meet at The Rogin Hood? hehe) On the upside, the garage occupies nearly the same floor space as the entire house. Is there a 'cackles evily' smilie?

So you moving into Botany bay then? Know that area very well. Always driving down the ridgeway from enfield to potters bar.

Not quite - still Enfiled just about, but I'll be on the ridgeway. Virtually within sight of the NSL sign to wake up the neighbours.

Hope the weather holds out, I'm hoping to take the car out this evening...

50/50 at the moment. Depends on our German customers turning up on time on Wednesday. Which would mean caning it down the M4, then the A406 and the A10.

Which would be nice.

You've got to bring the C-type. biggrin

Shaping up to be a very interesting gathering at the moment. Might have to document it!

Noooo, it can't rain! That would be bad!

And more to the point, my TVR's hood leaks significantly - it raises the very real possibility I might have to drive to a PH meet in a Saxo. paperbag

Would there be space for one more? I'd be coming from Stevenage and would either take the MG BGT or the BMW 323i (Most likely the BMW). smile
Shouldn't be a problem, welcome aboard. smile

Getting? biggrin

Shame about the food, still we'll see what reception is like. We could always try somewhere like the Robin Hood if we wanted to do it again - the unnoficial Porsche owners club meets there already. Or somewhere a bit further afield with some nice roads on the way.

I dunno, we did wait an hour and a half for 2 sandwiches the last time I went there, it looks about par for the course. biggrin

Whats the plan then? we all going for a drive after?
Not with my headlights! Beforehand possibly, but with twenty of us I'm not sure how well it'd work. If nothing else the sort of pace I'd rumble along at in my S would probably seem rather pedestrian if you were in a Viper or Tuscan.

Just watched the BBC online forecast. Looks like there may be some showers around in the afternoon but its supposed to clear away by early evening. No rain forecast. Looks like I'll be arriving with the roof down and if it's still damp underfoot, probably a little bit sideways. biggrin

+1 Could be my first outing in the wet. smile

It sounds like we might want to move on from the K&T in the future, but I reckon we should see how it goes this evening, or atleast meet there. I think if we changed the venue with 10 hours to go there's a good chance someone wouldn't find out. Plus, if we move on, without ticking people off on a regiuster or something silly like that we won't know if they're just late or not turning up.

You never know - the landlord at the K&T might be expecting to turn up in a fleet of Novas and Corsas, maybe he'll be a little more forthcoming after meeting us. Or, maybe he'll chase us away with a pitchfork. Either way it should be fun. smile

It's looking a bit dubious! Anyone know where I can get a 'car cap' to stick over the hood while it's parked up? smile

(Seriously... I think I'll be raiding Halfords on the drive home this evening.)
