Hi all

I'm a Gateshead resident, but I have lives in Wallsend, twice, Benfield road, Chillingham Road and Backworth as well as Walker in the past 5 years.

I drive a 106 Rallye, which has a 1.3 8V engine and standard 100HP, although it does need an MOT right now and tax so I'm using my bike at the moment to commute, I really am saving a LOT of money!!

Are there any sort of events locally that you guys attend? For example I was up at a cruise up at Glasgow the other week. Pics from that are here, if you're interested > www.fya-lan.co.uk/pics/GlasgowCruise30-09-06/

This was my old car:

This was after the rear tyre blew on my way to alston on the A686

This is my car:

As I said, it needs an MOt by replacing the rear beam, if anyone can do this for me I'll give them £50 for the job.

I have the beam and the tools to do the job, although I might need a bigger jack.

Anyway, hi there.

They are quite a disapointing responses.

How on earth could you judge me from one post I have made?

I like going to cruises as the people there are really good to chat to and you get to see some very nice cars some times, of course there are the very horrid cars too.

I love everything to do about cars. From learning more about how they work to modifications that actually improve the performance of the car. I don't think a spoiler will increase the HP by 20% and I do not buy these "performance chips" from ebay in a hopeless effort to increase my horse power either.

If I wanted to I could go and spend all my money on upgrading my car with all sorts of performance devices, however I am keeping it standard. Its a great car to drive and just rightly balanced.

I am NOT a boy racer, infact people get annoyed at me for driving to slowly most of the time, but hey, that's their fault they should learn to relax some more. Lionel Ritchie or Bach does it for me 8)

What do you do at runs and meets?

To finish, I hope we can all get along and when I have my car on the road again maybe meet with you all.

I know the feeling. I go out on the so-called 'friendly runs' and every one overtakes me, leaves me for dead, and takes the mick, because I am so slow. Then when I make it to the meeting site, they pelt me with outdated tangerines and falafel. I am bitter and resentful.

I would never turn my nose up at free stuff biglaugh

Fair point.

I guess I worked with the limited information available to me. The photos that are linked from your initial post indicated to me that you find this type of car-mania fun and interesting. I know the PHers in the Northeast area find this type of car-mania uninteresting and it is common for us to make fun of cars that look like those you have posted. No offence meant by this, each to their own, the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing. I guess that is why I felt it was worth making the comments I made. Anyone is welcome to join us to chat about cars at our local meetings, please come along.

As for road runs, these are not 'open invitation' because the organisers need to protect the safety of the group and the reputation of PH in the Northeast. Who joins a run will be decided by the organiser and that decision will take many things into consideration.

You're correct in thinking I do find cruises interesting, I like to see great cars that have been modified to be one off vehicles, where some one has created either a piece of art and looks gorgeous or someone might have created a pile of Halfrauds rubbish.

I Also think these events are great for photography. You can really get some good shots of cars. But I like the social side of things too, you get to meet a lot of different people, some obviously you like and some you don't.

Overall, I am here for a bit of car chat and socialisation, I'm a great believer in that a man, or woman, can't have to many friends.

Where do you all normally hold local meetings? Should I just wait for a post in this forum ?

Nice looking Peugeot, Mr Roll. I'll bet it's a right gigglethumbup

Thank you

I love this car, no power steering means its very direct steering when cornering and when I started to drive it my arm muscles did actually get a bit bigger

The next things I'll be buying for the car are some arches, I have found some one with cheap 2nd hand ones that arnt it to bad condition.

And then looking to get a original air intake as one of the previous owners put a K&N Air filter on it which looks like it couldn't filter coal. Also I just want iot completely standard, apart from my speakers in the rear, they're much better than the 2 little speakers in the rear.

I've had some scary moments cornering, but its so lovelly and once you know "point it in that direction and it'll take you there" mentalilty, corners are taken with no doubt

Dont take this the wrong way, but those wheels just do not suit that pug. A rallye should ALWAYS have white steelies!

Ahh yes, I forgot to say, I'm supposed to be getting a set of Series 2 steelies soon.

S2 steelies are about an inch wider, or half and inch. So more grip

Oh, and welcome.

You have indeed, I used to live there about a month and a half ago for the past 12 months before that.

Thank you, what do you drive ?
