We spoke about leaving it a couple of months - lighter warmer nights etc, but nothing stopping us arranging it sooner!!

I reckon we should leave it 'til the clocks go forward at the end of the month - that'll give us a bit more light in the evening. I'm away first week in April but wednesday 11th April would be OK. Do we still fancy The Gingerbread Man at Mkt. Drayton? There may be some more Shrewsbury / Whitchurch PHers interested if we go there. Do we stop in Staffordshire? Fire away with your views. Cheers, Bernie.

I usually work on the basis that a 1 hour drive each way is the max for a meet "on a school night". Hence for example, the ones in Derbyshire (Starkeholmes etc) are just in range. I'd apply the same test to Staffs meets...

Start of April sounds good, not fussed on the venue. Stafford would be good though

Hi Prof and Matt,

Mkt Drayton is 45 mins from Stafford - includes Eccleshall to Loggerheads, supposed to be Clarksons fave bit of road - I can vouch for the interest factor. Other suggestions; How about (1)'Swan With Two Necks' on junction of A53 and A51 at Blackbrook? (2)'Shire Horse' off J14 at Stafford? I'll go with the flow but should we firm up on 11th April?

Cheers, Bernie

They are all fine with me - personally I'd keep the Shire Horse for nice weather as it's not ideal layout inside being very "foodie" - excellent outside though and good beer

Agree with Prof about the Shire horse, never been to the Swan with Two Necks so can't really comment. 11th April is good.

Cheers

Swan with two necks sounds like a good venue...... for those who don't know the area - its very easy to get to, has a huge car park and is pretty quiet in the week (so the cars will be safe!!!).

I think we need to firm up on our next location and date. Any great objections to Swan With Two Necks at Blackbrook (junction of A51 and A53) on 11th April? It's half hour max from Stafford and will suit Potteries and Whitchurch PHers who came last time. Can the Stafford/Uttoxeter end give some thought where we can go after that? Bramshall Inn or is car park too small? Saracens Head at Weston?

Let us know what you think.

Cheers, Bernie.

Hi Matt, Barley Mow is a most excellent suggestion. When is the refurb due to be finished? Called in on the last day it was open, 'bout 2 months ago and it was still shut 2 sundays ago. Do you live in that area?

Cheers, Bernie

Hi Prof,

Nip down to Milford and find out when it reopens - can start booking our 3rd meet then! Are you a real professor or is that a title conferred on you by school kids or other admirers?

Cheers, Bernie

Still closed tonight. I'll try and have a look tomorrow and see if there is a date for reopening. Managed to miss this thread! Alternatively the Seven Stars at Brocton has a big car park at the back that is usually fairly empty!
