Right then, all the gubbins is through. On Saturday the gay race is 3.15 with the main race at 5.45, and on Sunday at 12.20 and 3.45. There's a chance they'll be runnning ahead of time though.

I also have 2 spare tickets if anyone is interested...

3.15 kick off on saturday. I think an 8am start may be a bit unecessary, what do you think Ewen?

Bill what time are you getting to the track on saturday?

8am sounds a bit early - I guess qualifying still starts from midday though. Push it back an hour and meet at 9am or perhaps later?

I start at 11. Assuming I've not forgotten a vital bit of paperwork... But there'll be plenty to watch, including the trucksyikes

OK. Daz - I don't mind what time we meet. It might be best to get there for Bill's first qualifying run as he'll just punt the car into the tyre wall during that and will have to retire

What's the protocol with the tickets Bill? Can Daz and I have them and how do we get them? I can speak to Trevor (Newman) and probably get a couple more if need be.

Sorry, I've promised them to a couple of friends who are camping that night. There's a charity box people put spares in and a donation gets them out again. The problem will be getting them to you at the gate. The paddock is in the middle of the circuit so depending on when you arrive you might be waiting a bit. OTOH tickets are 12 quid.

How did the rest of the weekend racing go? Did you get to race again or was the "excess" race it for you?

I had a rather good weekend. Saturday involved a topless three hour hoon in the SL down to Pembrey via the Brecon "test facilities". Such fun to be appreciated by the locals who were keen to wave and flash their lights at us. Sunday saw the Porsche wheeled out of the garage for an attack on the Cotswolds "proving ground", Let's just say I think it's fully prepped for the deresticted mountain roads of the Isle of Man in a few weeks.

Excellent day for me on Saturday too. Chased Daz across the Brecons which was fun. The Caterham caught the SL easily in the corners but struggled to keep up on the straights once the lepton count got to a significant level.

The racing was good to watch. The trucks were incredible, one in particular was drifting every corner while another was kicking out a very effective smoke screen. I'll let Bill tell the story of his debut qualifying and racing in his own words The best sounding car there was an Audi A4 DTM car - really sounded like a Spitfire on a take-off run! Finished the day with a quick blast back along the M4 before beer in Bath.

Spent most of yesterday being hungover and washing cars. Not so exciting!

The A4 wasn't Orange and spitting flames was it? There was one a Castle Combe BH Monday - v. nice.

I'm getting some pics together, but in brief I ballsed up the first race by knocking the keys changing up on lap 2, turning the engine off... When I worked out what I'd done and turned it back on again I turned the started over too. The long and short is I couldn't get it restarted so I coasted in fearing I'd lunched the starter gear ring. Not a good start, particularly as I was 2 places up by that point having started 18th on the grid.

Race 2 was far more successful. I started 15th and had made up 3 places by the first cornerthumbup I lost one or two of those but managed to get up to 11th before running out of people to race. I think I'd cleared away from the tail enders but had got delayed enough that I was out of touch of the middle pack.

I lapped someone in the middle of all this, before catching a guy on the penultimate lap as he'd had a small off. I took him on the inside at Honda but he slipstreamed me all the way down the straight to the hairpin which I braked far to late for and did a little bit (more, only the third timehehe) grasstrack racing. I got back on and kept with him, but wasn't close enough to do anything.

All in all a top weekend. My car is intact, I had a laugh and people didn't take the piss too muchthumbup

Good one mate, we were wondering all weekend how you go on!

You thinking of fitting a push button start instead of a key?

I've taken the other key and the fob off the ring and that seems to have sorted it

Also lightens the car I suppose?! It sounds like your car is competitive & quick enough, do they have to be road legal?

Did the Dreadnought manage any better mpg on the way home or is your record still 16?
