Bridgwater advice

I'm in the same situation as RedBull, i live just inland of Burnham and I commute about 60 miles to work up the motorways and have done so for over 10 years.
TBH 90% of the time things are fine and the motorways around here are ok, but what i would add to what has already been said is that you need to decide East or West of the M5!
Given that the M5 Southbound turns into a car park every Friday (and most weekends) between April and October due to the Caravanalists flocking to/from the sea, i'd suggest that living in one of the in-land villages gives you more options to get to/from Bristol and Exeter when the motorway is snarled up.
If you do take that approach then you could even look at Wells, Glastonbury or Street, as they are only 15/20 mins from the motorway and i used to commute from Wells to Bristol and it's not too bad.
