Just thought I'd share this with you. Anybody who knows the hills in Bath will understand.
Coming down Ralph Allen drive (a long 1 in 6 hill) in my Audi, the servo TOTALLY FAILED. I had virtually zero brakes coming down this very steep hill. Fortunately it was early enough in the morning that nobody pulled in or out of Perrymead (to a School), MillHouse (a Gargage) and since it was so early the Garden Centre was closed. Double de-clutching several times I just managed to get the car into 2nd & eventually 1st gear & using the handbrake and pressing as hard as I could on the solid brake pedal the car finally came to a halt at the bottom of the hill past the Garden Centre. Managed to damage the seat mountings with the pressure I pushed the pedal at!

I have to say I was pretty shaken up mostly at the thought of what could have happened.

I wish
At that time in the morning the security posts were still across the entrance anyway. It's been towed to them now though!

Update - The Audi garage have identified a problem with a spilt grommet in the servo. They have apparently not come across this problem before, and will not have a replacement part until mid next week.

I hope you're getting a courtesy car in the meantime. If that had happened to someone less competent the consequences could have been bloody nastyyes

too true, i can imagine loads of my friends who would have just looked at the car blankly and then screamed their heads off instead of doing the sensible actions described above.

its got to be a bit of a shock when something like that happens.
