James, and anyone else in the Winchester area- keep your car keys & properties super safe at the moment. You may or may not have heard, that there is a spate of organised crime going on in the Winchester area right now. They are breaking in and stealing the keys for performance/ prestige vehicles. I know for a fact a few Audi's have gone form the Badger Farm area and a friend in Barton Stacey saw his neighbours Disco and TT being driven away late at night a few weeks ago. They are stopping & checking cars under the 'Operation Nemesis' guise- I have been stopped twice in the last few weeks.

I caught some guys scoping my car out on my drive on Saturday evening in a high spec 58 plate Vectra. Initially I thought it was an unmarked car but after speaking to a friend in the force, I found out that the Vectra matched the description of a car seen casing an Audi nearby which was later stolen. The Police did a few drive-by checks during the night Saturday and an officer called round yesterday. They think my car may well have become a target so its currently sat on the drive with the cover over blocked in by my bro's old BMer.

Basically- make double sure all your doors are locked and keep your keys in the bedroom. Would hate to hear of anyone PHers losing their P&J's to scumbags.

Darren.

Better tell my Dad to stop leaving his keys in the bloody ignition overnight, he's asking for trouble.

Cheers Darren...both of our P&J's are out of sight in our locked garage but I will keep an eye out for scumbags following us home!

Its not the garage that will be an issue forr these peices of scum, they will just look for the keys for that to. Just make sure the keys are well hidden. Ive opted for putting mine in my dobermans bed and not feeding him for a few weeks.

On a serious note though, Darren has made a fair point. It is big business at the mo, and Audis are top of the list to go.

Just be extra careful.

After all this and having the Police round this weekend, my old man's just e-mailed me to say he has just had an 09 plate Audi A4 Avant delivered this morning to replace his existing one. Thought he would keep it a secret. Might have to dig a moat round our drive....
