Anyone been there recently? Looking for somewhere to meet up with the outlaws on Sunday, between Verwood and Reading, and this is about half way.

Haven't been there for years and although it used to be good, I've seen that it's had some not-so-good reviews on one of the pub/beer websites.

ANy alternative suggestions for places between Verwood and Reading that serve good Real Ale and will do (good) food all day Sunday?

TIA

I've not been since the Summer.. It was OK then, good beer and grub.

I've never really sat inside though, only go inside for the Bar and Lavvy.
Its a sit outside sort of place surely, watching the river and fish..?
Not sure about sitting outside in the Winter! Must admit, I can't remember the inside either. Liked to watch the eels in the river...

Several votes for the Peatspade then. Don't know that one, and Sunday has now passed but I'll bear that in mind for the future.

Did you go? Was it any good? If you are in the area again, just off of the road to Winchester is a lovely place called the Running Horse; it's quite contemporary, which isn't to everyone's taste, but the foods good.
We went to the Wykeham Arms in Winchester instead. Very, very good. Food was lovely, beer (although only Fullers) great and a nice relaxed atmosphere.

I'll try to look at the Running Horse though.

I was going to suggest the Wykeham Arms, but thought it was too In town..
Nice pub that..!
Excellent pub. It was my first choice but I was told the peeps we were meeting didn't want to go into town (dunno why). Got my way though, AND I didn't have to drive so a few beers were supped too.

Sorry, being a bit of a purist fart! Fullers=Gales! Youngs=Charlie Wells, and sadly Ringwood=Bloody Marstons!
