Well my decision to replace my wheels on my car may well be shelved as i am thinking about just getting a new car for the summer instead.

May have a buyer for mine so here is the criteria for a replacement.

£14k or less
Under 50,000miles
Not completely impractical as it is a daily driver

Suggestions . . . . . . . .

Thats all got me thinking DC.

I do like the V6 Clio, big fat and in your face.

Dont want a TVR.

Would love a Porker of some description, probably a 968 but am a tad scared of the running costs.

The CLK look interesting.

What ever i decide on even if its to keep the Scoob, i think a Welsh weekend would be the way forwards.

UPDATE

The Scoob is sold and going on Wednesday afternoon. Still not bought a new car yet so probably going to be hacking about in a mates spare Polo 1.0 for a few weeks which will be fun . . . . . not!

I have been out today with Mr D and test driven a car which i am quite taken with. Nothing like the scoob but i like it. The bloke at the dealership is looking into getting me another one brought down from another dealer which has better spec, lower mileage and is cheaper. I think that may be the one i go for.

I wont say what it is yet, but its pretty capable and i should still be able to keep up with some of you lot!!

Should know by tommorrow for definite.

265bhp and rear wheel drive, it sounded lovely as well. Completely different power delivery to the scoob, and it caught me by suprise a couple of times on the test drive. Very refined as you would expect. The one i like has a really good spec to, just waiting until the morning to see if it is a go'er or not.

Jim if you need a car to get about in to view potential purchases your welcolme to borrow the wifes Beetle we are selling for a few days... there are just a few conditions... you insure it, collect from Chichester oh and at no point do you remove the little pink flower from the dash laugh seriously if it helps you out for a few days let me know wink
Al, seriously that is a very generous offer. I would definitly take you up on it, but my friend has just got a new job right by his house so is lending me his 1.0 polo for a bit. Im not going to rush to buy a new car, as im in quite a good position now.

Haggy as G'bread man says up to 14k really. I have been through auto trader and PH and picked all of the cars to peices for one reason or another. I know as soon as i buy one, a perfect one will come along the week after.

The only conditions are really, leather and xenons definites, not boring old man blue, lower mileage the better. There is a black one with grey leather on Autotrader, but it is from some massive used car place near London which looks fairly dodgy.

New car has been bought. I drove to Kent tonight in my mates 1.0 Polo. I just sat in the slow lane the whole way there and it only cost me about £10 in fuel. I wish i didnt like cars sometimes, so i could be happy with a car like that.

Anyway, the car i have bought is spot on. The guy was waiting with the garage door open and the car under a cover, always a good start even if it was just for show. He still had the power buffer out on the drive from his afternoons cleanig session. So we went out for a spin and the deal was done.

Picking it up next week hopefully if he gets the private plate swapped and the log book back from the DVLA. I won't say what it is for now, i will post some decent photos when i get it. The ones he has taken dont do it justice.

Cheers for all the advice and kind offers of cars to see me through.

Jim (with a nig smile)
