lake district run, december '10
Discussion
right,
just had lunch with one of the other guys who's coming on the trip & we've got the route planned out, & i've got to say it looks like being a belter!
as i've said earlier on in some posts we'll be starting & finishing at junction 40 on the m6. this makes it easier for people coming in from different regions & i also have an alternative end route for those of you coming from lancashire if you want to make a little more of it.
with a morning meeting time of 10:30 am it means we can all still have a decent saturday night out! allowing for a stop time for lunch & tyre kicking around each others cars we'll be getting finished mid afternoon, you then have the option of doing a little more driving in the lakes, having a look around one of the towns (if you're bringing your other half with you) or getting right back onto the m6 for the journey home.
as for bringing the half's along, in case you're selling it to them i've picked some of the best roads for taking in the good views. we'll be taking in the sights around nine of the districts lakes as well as doing three of the areas best passes.
lunch will be low cost but decent quality with one of the best views around, obviously if you want to bring your own food with you that'll be no problem.
i'll be getting in touch with everyone who's posted in the next few days with the exact route, this e-mail will have all the details that can't be included on here for obvious reasons.
feel free to mention the run within your own forum groups or outside of pistonheads, it really is a case of the more the merrier as i'm sure with it being close to xmas & with the chance of bad weather it might only be us die-hards up for it!
as for the weather we can only tell what it'll be like on the day, last weekend i recce'd some of the route & even with glorious sunshine surrounding the area once into the lakes it was pretty grey & grim, but hey i guess lakes are just big puddles & somethings got to fill them! even with the weather being dark & dull it still made for some great driving & it's still a good chance to meet some new people & look over their cars. like i've said snow at that time isn't likely to be a factor but as i'm touching wood i'll just mention it, but i do have an alternative route planned for the part that may be affected.
so get your name down, feel free to bring the other halfs & if you know someone who may be interested then give them a shout,
