Just a warning for all those that may happen to choose this franchise garage to fill up with V-Power, that it seems they are miss-selling the product. (AGAIN) !

Last year I am in knowledge of a car that filled up at this garage with ‘V-Power’ and went to get it mapped. At the mapping centre they hooked it up to the computer and noticed heavy amounts of pinking under engine load.
On checking the fuel it was neither the correct smell nor the correct colour for V-Power fuel.
After draining the tank and re-filling with their local area Shell V-Power it was brought back to the mapping centre and re-hooked up to the computer where the pinking was dramatically reduced and a proper map could be applied.

Now, just recently the same car required a new map and once again filled up with so called ‘V-Power’ from the Shell garage in Penrith only to find the same heavy pinking when hooked up to the mapping computer.

I have already reported this particular franchise garage to Shell UK and to UK Customs and Excise…..but had little response.

Should a second email be sent or am I wasting my time?

Either way this is just a ‘heads-up’ to ignore the Shell garage in Penrith if you are planning buying ‘V-Power’ because it is definitely NOT THE REAL DEAL.

Ive always wondered how to be sure that if you are filling up with v-power(or any other premium priced high octane fuel)that you are actually getting what you pay for and not just normal unleaded with the premium going straight in the garage owners pocket!
My local Shell is owned by Shell themselves so I would think its unlikely that they would get involved in this kind of scam.
Something for Watchdog maybe.....

Thanks for the heads up. I use this garage frequently when i'm travelling up north. I'll make sure I fill up in Lancaster next time!

Customs will be taking extra revenue so I can't see them being interested.

It's a weights and measures issue so send an e-mail to trading standards.
