You cheeky fker smile

Wasn't there sadly, was away working. Saw the photos. As the father of 2 little ones under 5 it really shook me. Poor little chap.

I've just asked a friend about MOD land within driving distance of Leeds/Hudd that can handle 1000+ cars and a lot more on foot. Will update here and PM folks here if I get a sniff of anything.

An airstrip would be ideal.

Good call on Max at Sporting Bears too, he may know a few people.

I'll say here and now I've got £100 available immediately to the organisers if they need to secure anything.

It was very sad.

An airstrip would be desirable and quite a draw too. Also an excellent way of generating revenue for the charity in question either through own laps or passenger laps in others cars. This works at Bruntingthorpe with one car relaeased every twenty or thirty seconds TT stylee.

Agree Simon, venue is a must ATM.

Hi, Ben yes that would be great as I'm struggling with venue ATM, that MOD grounds sounds intresting but is it possible for more cars just incase?
I've been in contact with the guy who owns Melbourne airfield and he's having a testing day of some sort, and he's been trying to move it for another day to accommodate us but it's not looking great ATM, but he's more or less offered us next year.

Going to try phone a couple more airfields tomorrow (elvington, harewood house, etc)

Oh I'll give max a ring tmr too, thanks for that.

Any suggestions welcome and people that can pull some strings at this short notice.

Pm me if needed.

Thanks

Update- unfortunately we have decided not to go through with this event this year as its too short notice to plan a massive event, last year the Connor tragidy struck chords with people and the sad situation made them come.
The event should of been sorted ages ago tbh, and now been passed on to me frown

I don't want to get an airfield for only a small percent of folk to turn up, I don't think IMO that as many people would come at this short notice. So therefore I've decided to plan in advance for next year instead and everybody will have plenty of notice and will give it time to be passed on to all the car forums and clubs for a massive turnout.

I do appolagise to those who were wishing to come but I've had to think long and hard and it wasn't a easy decision for me to take the risk at this short notice under the circumstances.

Hopefully I should be able to get Melbourne airfield (york raceway) next year, just checking available dates.

Regards corky.

Definitely for the best, I think. Factor in all of the difficulty over the name (which Ive only just found out about from the SN thread) and it really didn't have a hope at this late stage.

Yeah, thanks fellas for the understanding of the situation.

After all it's just going to be a normal charity event just like the other venues, but the difference is all the cars are welcome for a good mixture and turnout. And most importantly, plenty of notice.
