Yep good day out.

Nice to meet you all

Need to go again, just try get us all on track at once so we don't have to share with all those drivers who crashed and yellow flagged half the race hehe

Was it one of us who went airborne on the chicane? I think I had the racing line but stamped on the anchors as the bloke level with me wasn't going to give in and I could see it all going nasty, next thing I knew a little bump and saw someone flying through the air. Fair play to them, they managed a red flag..

Thanks everyone who turned up for some good racing and a good laugh in the pits.

It was nice to meet up with you all and I can't see why we can't do it again.

I was really pleased with the standard of the karts and yes, a lot of the other teams definitely kept the marshalls very busy. I do think it would help if the bolted more of the tyres together though, to prevent those 'black flying saucers' from making any more appearances.

A big congratulations must go to Ben & Dave, who won and set a cracking fastest lap of the day. I'm sure that'll be on Tockwiths website soon thumbup

It's a shame I didn't manage to find a decent pub for us to continue the banter and have more time afterwards.

Thanks again. Stu

Yep, more than half the yellow flag time was spent just tidying up tyres slowly. Worse still the marshalls more often than not just held their flag as a stick to move tyres rather than wave it visibly, so unless you were looking to the other end of the track you didn't know it was a yellow flag (cue me dive bombing a gap at full speed between tyres and another kart and getting a black flag )

Yeah, think I was the person!?

The previous lap the bloke bumping me with the multicoloured helmet (one of our group?) out-gunned me into that fast chicane down my left from the previous bend (pretty dangerous bit there imho) and I had to brake on his nearside as he came alongside and tuck in behind other wise I'd have just hit BIG tyres and probably died He had the line so I gave in.

So nearer the end of the race I was going down there and got a faster exit from the previous corner and took the inside, right down next to the tyres gaining on someone to my nearside and got nose to nose a few seconds after the last bend. I guessed I had the line (as per previous incident above, the inside there is the line there isn't it??) and just took the kink but cringed as I didn't see the driver to my left (was that you?? sorry ) slow down... genuinely thought that the straight line through that kink (far right against tyres on entry) is the racing line... and didn't want to yield to someone I caught up who was also off-line...

Coming back up on the other side I saw red flags and a kart in the middle of the tyres eek

Genuinely sorry if that was you! Just assumed someone off line would tuck in behind like I had been doing...

Personally I think that corner was bloody dangerous, and as karts cut it each time they pushed the tyres back from the sharp apex head a bit more and more (green line becoming the blue line as the apex moves back), making it a faster more suicidal corner with a shallower line meaning running along the tyres is optimum, rather than just off them by a karts width maybe... After the marshalls pushed the tyres out after that big crash it slowed the kink down again but the tyres were just slowly knocked in again making the apex smoother and the chicane too fast!
Great if your with mates and sensible drivers who will take the line and not go in side by side, but I was backing off at times so some people could carry their wide line and cut infront of me so they didn't hit the tyres!

As you approach the chicane, the kart needs to be over to the right, then a sharp flick to the left. Be careful not to turn too sharp and cause the rear of the kart to slide.

Was I wrong to hold the right hand line and force the driver to my left to brake/yield??

Damn fun little circuit though, but that bend...!

Big thanks to Stu for organising this! Great day out It was also good to meet a few more Yorkshire PH's and we did manage to find a pub in the end!

I'd definately be up for doing this again! Possibly the club 100, as they're a bit quicker! Not sure if Esther would be doing that, but she certainly enjoyed the prokarts!

Cheers
Rich

Aye thumbup Quite enjoyed that beer. That story about the MX5 and the surfboard is still making me giggle!
