I want to take my BMW somewhere good mainly for the more difficult jobs/computer interfacing. I'd prefer not to use BMW as the local ones to me all seem a bit arse to both get to, and seem to quote 10% higher than some others.

Ie, I want my key to stop opening the boot while the car is locked at the doors, and setup a 2nd key to have the seat move to my partners seat position and so on. Ie, they will probably need to have the BMW tools and diagnostics gear.

Does anyone have a list of good/recommended ones to ring up/check out around the E SE S arc around Leeds (but not Leeds itself as I hate driving around there)

I recall a few people mentioning a good one in Hull and one near York but can't recall the names specifically or find the topic with them in.

Cheers for any help

Dave

About a million percent: B&M Care, Pudsey, Leeds http://www.bmservicing.com/

Run by Richard, who used to work in BMW Bradford (JCT600) IIRC

I've used them for 3+ years and 80,000 miles.

Just off the ringroad past the huge Asda.

I would recommend these too, their service is pretty good although access can be a right royal pain in the cheeks if it's busy rofl

Another recommendation for B&M here.

They've looked after a couple of my previous cars and have saved me a pretty packet. Richard is decent, honest and straight-talking.

I go here http://www.atlasautoservices.co.uk/ - its in a village just north of York.

Very good and very reasonable, they have helped me out many times. They also have an E36 race car in often.

Ooo Cramag and B&M are both pretty close and seem quite good.

Will have to give them both a bell at the weekend and see what prices they are for usual bits and bobs...

Thanks so far. Will report back on who I choose and why wink

If you wanted a good, friendly and professional service from fellow PH'ers, you could take a run down to Porsche Euro in Barnsley, although they're not an indie, they're very good VFM and top guys!

If you need a main dealer to reprogram things, speak to Kim, the after sales manager at Scotthall, and tell him Chris sent you

Sounds like an option to explore, Scotthall are actually the closest garage to me pretty much... thanks Chris.

My only other bugbear with BMW is their parts department close at midday on a Saturday, and I don't get up until then hehe

I've used them too in the past, no complaints.

I would trust these guys to do a much, much, much better job than any BMWMD....you always get the impression you've been taken for a mug when you use main dealers, in my experience.

Also, just round the corner from B&M (down the hill, right at the viaduct then 200yds on the left) is Mayday Garage Services. They have done bits and bobs for me in the past and are brilliant.

They always have M cars there, prices are good and you can get a courtesy car if you need one (although it won't be a new spangly thing). I'll be booking in soon to get the car serviced before sale.

How you finding the Z4?

Yeah, sadly the coupe is going (not that I want to sell it). The simple reason being that since Juniorspeed8 arrived I haven't really used it and don't want it to just sit in the garage.

Thought about replacing it with a 911 or an M6 with the way prices are just now but while he's still in a pram it would probably get used just as much as the coupe (and the 6 wouldn't fit in the garage). Practicality suggests something like a Golf R32 for a year or two as I fancy smallish and nippy rather than big and fast. The 4WD will help when I go off snowboarding too.
