Hi all,

I keep hearing about virginia Waters down south and the M25 Cafe that PH's meet at for a casual get together.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a Yorkshire version. Probably at one of the Old houses e.g. Harewood. Other suggestions are welcome.

I have two kids and to be frank, they don't really like being dragged round on a tour of Yorkshire. It's nice if a meeting is stationary and can cater for kids (big and small).

It's a Piston Heads meeting rather than just one or two clubs. It's nice to put faces to login ID's. I know they have a Porche, Aston, Jag and vintage car show there most years. So they may be able to supply separate parking for the PH Cars, if the numbers are big enough.

It's not meant to be a formal gathering, just a collection of Car nut's having a gawp at all the nice cars. An ideal day would be Sunday afternoon 12pm onwards. Leaving the option of going for a drive later.

I mean as well as the BNG. We might actually make it to BNG this year, we where busy last year. That’s my point,it's still only one event a year! Hence if your busy on the day then that's it till next year. (Go no Gemini you know you want to organise another BNG!)

The pub is nice, we used to go when we had a TVR.
It's a small pub, no offence. You can't really get more than 20 - 30 cars in.
What are the kids going todo. Not all of us like kids running around knocking pints over and we can't get a babysitter

I am happy to organise the event as long as the car club organisers pitch in to spread the word. I am hoping for about 3 gatherings a year over the spring, summer and autumn and probably about 100 cars max. It can easily cope with that number of cars. It’s a very good venue for people with kids too.

It will be set days for the main gatherings. Can’t imagine them been too pleased if 100 cars just turn up and demand a bit of grass for there own. Also people are more likely to travel a bit further if the event is planned in advance.

Hi,

It's just a work in progress at the moment. If you have a better suggestion then please feel free. Of course everyone will be welcome . I chose yorkshire cos it's easy to see where it is. It took me about 20 Threads before i found out virginia waters is down south.

BNG is used by Gemini .
Supercar Sunday is used by gaydon, if it happens?

Can't use Harwood House, cos they may not be too happy with the idea. Also, the venue hasn't been confirmed So HH may be TN.

Any suggestions.

Hi,

The dates are 18th April, 8th August, 31st October. Harewood dosen't have anything big on these days.

The venue has been picked because there is stuff to do for the little un's. It dose cost to get in, but thats because there are things to do. Hence means I can attend with the kids. Thats one Maserati at least.

The events will be posted on Pistonheads calendar.

Hi,

I was aiming for 12pm to 4pm leaving driving out time after.

I was wondering when the WYTVRCC was. What time does meet start? Maybe you can drop in on the way past . It's not that far away to just nip in. You have a nice sprint between Harewood and The pub then back.

The 18th April has been approved by harewood. The only sticking point is the cost of entry.

Other venues are Bolton abbey at £4 for the Day. Dates would still be 18th April, 24th October and 15th August.

Ted has added the event dates to the calendar. So we will be meeting somewhere on these dates. Bolton Abbey has a nice flat car park and is easy to get to. We could just turn up and grab a spot .

Harewood is expensive, we only need to meet in the grounds but they seem to want to charge full entrance. Thats £9, and thats per person

I sent them another email so i'll let you know if it changes. If there not bothered then i will change the venue to Bolton Abbey.

They have quoted normal group rates, cos they seemed to be under the impression that we wanted to visit the ground like normal tourists.

I sent them a detail email, with my suggestion for £4 a car. They have offered Parking in the north field (not opposite the house, but near enough for photo's). If people want to visit the house or bird garden then they will have to pay extra.

As far as i am concerned, anyone displaying the "Cars in the Park" logo. Yet to be designed should be allowed in. Offers of a logo design are welcome! I would love to use Pistonheads stickers but I will be posting this event on a lot of different forums. We will probably try to Group the sports cars togeather and park the Normal cars to one side (Photo's u know).

If you like the Sound of the event, at most it should be £4 a car. Please put your name on the Pistonheads calendar.

This will give me extra ammo to negotiate extra side events.

The 18th April is a definate. The other two dates are a bit fluffy at the mo. They moved one and i have moved one.

Sent them an email of saturday. So probably won't hear back till monday anyway. Then the haggling begins.

If you can start drumming up support for the 18th April . It would be much appreciated. Just be prepared to move the venue

Hi,

Trying a different tak. Asking Bolton Abbey for group parking. It's £4 to get in and is just as good a venue. The roads are cool but there's a lot of scooby around. Nice to know are tax payers money is not being wasted .

I'll then pass on the news to Harewood with the details and see if they can do better.

Final bid made for the Harewood venue. They have confirmed all the dates . I am just negotiating the price on entry . So i am hoping for good news soon. Just depends on how much of a business head they have.

If you would like to attend then please put your car/name down.

Cheers

Ted has removed the Event from the calendar until I can confirm the venue. Harewood has already said that they are happy with the dates. I am just trying to get a reasonable entry price for the cars. So when I get more news i will just post it on here.

Unfortunately they have yet to decide about the price. They have agreed on the days and the parking. The price is still way too much, for what is glorified parking. There current offer if £6.25 a head (Not car). Are people really fussed about this price?

Where getting a season pass soon anyway, access all areas. The Offer price refers to access to parking and grounds only. For three events, the price’s work out as:
Bolton Offer New Renew
Individual £16.00 £18.75 £35 £25
Couple £16.00 £37.50 £60 £45
Family(2 plus 2)£16.00 £75.00 £90 £65

Extra detail on www.harwood.org

If there are enough people interested in a season pass. All year round entrance to most events. Then let me know. I will see if a can cut a deal on a group application for Season passes.

I now have a logo for the event. Just need to send it to Ted for approval, (it has his logo down one side, only fare since we use his site).

I know it's too much. I am currently trying to get them to see reason. I have said £4 per car. If they can't meet that or close to it. Then we will meet at Bolton Abbey. I don't want people being ripped off, for what is just parking!.

Even the nature of Bolton Abbey is starting to be a major plus. We can just turn up when we want i.e. VW It's still just £4. You can go for a drive and then still get back in on the same ticket.
