Also can you open the boot with that hardtop fitted, mine stops before the boot hinges but does'nt look so streamlined as yours. I had the original Le Mans style top with the fuel filler in the roof. It had an internal pipe that was supposed to fit inside the filler on the body but seemed to split the fuel 50/50 between the tank and the back of the seats. Anyway this problem is no longer an issue as the whole roof blew off about 5 years ago much to the surprise of the family of Spanish tourists behind me who collected it on the front of their hire car. Many appologies, a replacement hire car and a free night at Gleneagles sent them on their way with a few interesting memories of Scotland.

Doug, that would be fantastic. It would be great to experience the difference because as I say I find it unimaginable. I love the older smaller wheels and chunky tyres. The plate I was thinking of selling separately but i struggle to think what it is worth. Any thoughts? The rear window opens up so access to the boot isnt a problem. Dave Brookes designs and manufactures them, 3 bolts and a clasp either side and its good to go, designed mainly for a DAX though however I think he may have done some genuine cars. The side windows just screw on too and have a hydraulic pump.
So when are you thinking of getting the car back?

Excellent information about he hardtop, you seem to have a picture for every situation. The majority of mine were pre-digital, I will have to get some more.
I very much like your hardtop and window system, could you give me the details where I could buy them. I prefer practicality over originality. My windows are the original sliding type that slot into the top of the doors. They let in water an tend to get sucked out at speed ! I think your dax is a very accurate replica bodywise so the hard top should fit mine.
I have the original Halibrand wheels with Goodyear Bluestreaks. The tyres are handcut slicks with "Not for highway use" stamped on them, probably not ideal for the road.
As you can see they are for pin drive knock off hubs, you may be able to get 5 stud replicas but I would stick to the wheels you have they look great.
I have no idea what your plate is worth, it is probably worth more to the person who is going to buy your car. I would certainly pay extra to keep the plate with the car. I nearly bought COB65 but was outbid.
My old hard top that blew off was made af aluminium, so it was a bit the worse for wear and beyond repair. Their used to be a bit of it that you could still see on the verge of the A9 just past the junction for Auchterarder.
I hope to have the car back by the end of June. The new engine is in and I am just waiting for the fuel injection system to be finished. The injection system is a work of art and is designed to look like a period downdraught carburettor setup. Check this out http://www.twminduction.com/v8_kits/427_1.html
I will take a few photos the next time I am visiting.
I need to run the engine in for around 1000 miles then I can do some track work. I travel pretty regularly between the central belt and the Highlands so I will be able to run it in pretty quick.

g its his birthday today he was pissed by about 9pm he left his phone in that toilet they call a football stadium at Aberdeen but he got it back the next day

It's sad to see the car like that but I'm glad that I managed to persuade the assessors not to have it broken. Only 324 of that model ever made!I'll give you credit though, not many people would be able to keep smiling after that sort of mishap.
