Hey guys,

Firstly thanks to Si for keeping the list updated while I put in the hours to be worthy of my honoury japanese car workers hard worker award.

In my first post since the fatboy, sorry kmm is away playing soldiers I think I should do the honourable thing as a mate of his and change the route and start date and forget to tell him.

Only kidding, but it would be a good laugh!

I hope everybody is looking forward to the run, we are actively trying to collect further exotica and rarity for everybody to enjoy on the day. Thanks to all cars for signing up although we are sorry that there is a missing green drive blocker, sorry, corsa!

Take it easy guys, will be in touch with start point location and map very soon.

Andy

Alright lads,

Springkerse is officially 9.30 for 10.00 departure. However, the Greggs, Burgerking, Morrisons all open at 9.00am for food, fuel, toilets etc from 9.00am. Myself and Fatboy (kmm) will be there from 9.00.

Hopefully a lot will be there in reasonably good time to let everybody enjoy some of the metal on show. I'm not sure but i think we may have some drop ins just to check out the cars.

Brad, read this carefully.....THERE IS ONLY ONE ENTRANCE TO THE CAR PARK, you will probably be drawn to park there, DO NOT PARK OVER THE ENTRANCE, do not box us ingetmecoat

Hi Lads,

Apologies Brad, no more funny guy stuff.

The route is finalised, subject to me and fat boy having a spirited dry run (if you can call a Nissan vanette diesel and a corsa van 1.7d spirited). Just to check for times, the lunch stop, photo opportunities etc

We will keep the exact run until the day, but it is a great run and is suitable for all types including corsas and deisel beemers so if your down from Aberdeen for the weekend come and join us.

cheers

Hey Guys,

Will def get my butt into gear and get the stirling (springkerse retail park)meet point map posted asap.

For the Glasgow boys who I know like a tunnel or two (theres a rumour that a certain white lambo tried to tunnel through a hill by starting in a nice soft ditch) its not so much a tunnel but a nice extended bridge under stirling railway station. The bridge is perfectly situated on the dual carrigeway to let you pass through on a full bore and has been known to draw thumbs up from the people you pass. Nowhere near the CT but for noise purposes should be nice.

As prev posts, all food, loo, fuel requirements have been taken care of at start, mid point and end of run so all you weegies need to do is meet, sail through the ct (prob grinning all the way)and then get through to stirling (if thats the preferred plan or were you hoping to meet the run in a more north westerly position?)

cheers

As usual the godfather is correct,

speed camera about 100 yds after leaving the stepps bypass, another 1 about 100yds before the lights at moodiesburn - BOTH ARE 30 zones.

From moodiesburn lights right through until the junction after the castlecary viaduct its a 40. The police are actually being pretty sensible and only pulling people doing well over or moving between lanes however this seems to be only during peak times in a bid to keep the masses moving. HOWEVER outside peak times ie nights and weekend mornings you are virtually guaranteed to be pulled for exceeding the 40 limit.

so take it easy, leave in time

Godfatherly lecture over.....as you were men!

Hey guys,

Apologies for the silence and many thanks to kenny for his effort in route checking and keeping the organistaion going as I have been dangling off the side of a building for the last four days trying to earn a crust.

Yep the meet point is now definately the Stirling granada services, for those coming from Edinburgh, Fife and Glasgow travelling along the M9 or M80 these are signposted as (funnily enough) stirling services and are just off the big round about.

For the Dundee lads, its the second exit after the dunblane roundabout which takes you onto the M9 for edinburgh for about 5-10 seconds and then up the slip road to the left signposted for Stirling (services).

As Kenny said there is everything here that is needed and we shall meet in the upper car park (1st left once into the services)

Hope this helps, look forward to seeing you on Sun AT THE STIRLING SERVICES

Hi Tom,

Dont worry about the advance route info, the route is very simple with a few places people will def stop for photos / video camera action. There is actually not a lot of places you can go wrong and as its a big group you will also always be behind cars from the group or youll pass them at the side of the road (taking photos, dont be getting to excited godfather) however if you see a freelander, towrope, lambo thing going on best avoid the situation.

Kenny has done excellent directions and the fastest anybody will go is the speedlimit so itl all be good, see you sunday.

Well troops, things are looking promising, 60 cars from all over, loads of different marques to have a good nosey at.

Myself and the fatboy will be at the start waiting with the two lovelies coming in the yellow custom for a gumball style start.

Remember, leave in plenty of time and drive safe, the bib dont have a lot to do on a sun morning especially the weegies coming down the A80.

cheers

Well lads,

By all accounts its been a top day. A big thanks to Kenny who (due to my complete lack of organisation and general reliability) ended up doing the majority (read nearly all) of the organising with help from Si.

Thanks also to all who turned up and to all the guys I met today for the first time and had some great banter with. Some top cars and action out today. 3 great memories;
1. two alloys being booked in for refurb tomorrow ..ouch
2. the twitchy moment due to dry straight/wet corner combination south of Inverary
3. the look of fury on the face of the passenger of the 80something old woman in the red small car who had obviously been "overtaken" by about 30 cars before me.

Finally, if I can persuade kenny to help (read do the work) can somebody do a poll type post wth a vote on what is the next outing

a) another run such as today before the year end
b) an xmas time track day (numbers / cost permitting)
c) a spring time weekender, poss inc an afternoon track session
d) any other suggestions?
e) none of the above some other f*cker can organise it

cheers guys

Ps Bradley, Im gonna be stalking the crepe stand in lothian road to discuss your comments on my reversing skillsbiglaugh

Thats actually where i ended up as a proposal aswell, does anybody know if crail has a hut or something now where we could get a heat, eat? and chat between runs or wee track sessions.

I think that would be a great day as everybody would get more concentrated full on driving spells but a lot more time for chat/banter etc aswell.

Anybody got a contact at crail? if costs are a bit much could we rope in paul qv and the other club out on a run today or dat inter to rustle up more bodies?

think for a winter day this would be a lot safer than a wet day out on the public roads? or our resident go cart organiser(ess) could do a winter day for us?

Or if everyody turned up from today we'd be looking at 60.00 ish each, I would be really up for this aswell, would have to be pretty strict on cash here tho as nobody could be left with a headache on this. here or crail, both would be great fun

hey, seriously considering either a winter knockhill track day or crail day, depending on numbers and costs. i think we would try and fill it from the lists of names from the last few runs, this would ensure a continuity of banter and allow the more timid or less experienced track dayers (like myself) to have an enjoyable day within good company and not be worrying about track fiends.

Si is going to check out Crails costs and facilities and once costs are clear we can make a decision.

Feedback is welcome on a yes/no basis for either of the above, my main thought is that off the public roads we are less reliant on the weather to keep us away from slides as they should be a lot less painful in a track environment.

cheers

ps wheels are in for refurb/repair on wed, will post a before/after shot and costs once I get them back, was quite embarassing walking in today and getting that "alright son, being a tt in a car you cant handle" look from the guy at the first wheel place.
