Traffic pigs seem to be bloody everywhere...

Every road out of Kirkintilloch has a meat wagon on it this morning with a at least 2 snorters at each point. Also loads more dotted around Glasgow I have seen.

Let's try not to contribute to their next night out fund.....

Isn't hypocrisy wonderful, but I still maintain this is fk all to do with safety and about massaging crime resolution stats

Surely though, as a responsible driver, you would have nothing to fear over their presence..

The M80 was heaving with them tonight. Inc an unmarked silver 520d.

I generally have nothing to fear, but at the risk of using a well worn cliché, I would rather they were out and about keeping the public safe than picking on easy targets. To quote a story, a mate of mine and his partner were attacked over 2 years ago in their house by burglars. He was left partly deaf, she to this day has flashbacks to the night in question and has never really got over the incident. Basically had not long moved into the house and thieves were after his safe keys. Only 2 people knew about the safe - the removals guy and the person who installed it. House needed the interior totally re-doing (walls, doors the lot) after his being chased round the house with a crow bar. Police station is local, took them 20 minutes to respond to the distress call, and to this day the police have not ever once returned a call to him regarding progress on the incident. NOT ONCE has he had the courtesy of a progress report of any sort - despite his asking for updates. Scandalous. Same man was recently done for 45 in a 40 . . . . . . . . . . . .

Many's the time I have witnessed plain dangerous driving within the speed limit that would go untouched, conversely plenty of fast safe driving too. The priorities are all wrong I tell thee. Respect is earned - not an automatic right. Police would do well to remember that.

Got to agree, i used to have a bit of respect for the pigs, not any more. The obsession with trivial motoring offences is beyond a joke, there's fairly regularly 2 on bikes spend their whole shift under the M8 at Kinning Park(but only if it's raining) desperately looking for seatbelts.

Traffic hanging about near Kirkintilloch? That's new. I'll be over that way on Friday so I'll keep my eye out for them.

My old man says he's seen a lot of Traffic activity in the Greater Glasgow area the last week or so, and when I've been through seen a lot myself.

It's really crucial for public safety to catch and persecute, sorry prosecute, these criminal masterminds going over that vitally important speed limit.

How so very dare they, the only way to contribute to public safety as we all know is to catch murderers and rapists!

And more. Drug pushers and dealers would be a good start, along with muggers, hooligans and lets throw some bankers in that mix too... :-)

Where is the " public saftey" hanging about catching people for seatbelt offences? Hours at a time? If they put half as much effort into other types of crime as they do persecuting easy target motorists loads of folk could sleep easier in their beds.

PS, no, I have no points on my licence.

Whats the rest of the story? Being done when you're less than 10%+2 over the limit is pretty unusual.

They now have target's to meet for catching X amount of people driving without a seatbelt, using a mobile etc.
All brought in the last 6 or so year's.

Ideal for people, not really, but with government's giving them target's to hit, what do you really expect to happen?

The Tradeston area of Glasgow seems to be a popular haunt for them just now in the morning. Plenty of traffic coming off the M8 and M74 and filtering through the streets with plenty of junctions for the police to sit at.

Last week there was a police van with about 7 coppers out in Clyde Place - I thought that they were maybe just training new recruits as opposed to actual pulling for offences.

Also, last week, I was driving up by Torrance and there was bog standard Police Focus Estate parked up a farm road with 2 WPCs standing on the verge with speedgun in hand.

No rest of story at all. To say he was spitting feathers was an understatement after all that happened (by the way story correction. It was his stepson)

For the moment anyway I can say the same.

And my sentiment is identical to yours.

The norm in East Dunbartonshire at the moment.

The comment about the bankers was tongue in cheek BTW although the sentiment about prosecuting the bds still stands. Everything else I meant truly. There are far more pressing crimes going on and others unsolved untouched that are far more meritworthy of the time and effort.

As I say - it is all about massaging crime resolution figures. It's the easiest way to get the stats up.

Hang on wait a minute here, is this not what the Traffic "Pigs" are paid to do?? The jails are full to capacity, so much so that they are building more to house undesirables so somebody is locking them up (any of you lot helped in any way). The last time I looked around me as I was going about my normal day the standard of driving was abysmal.

My guess is that some of you are happy for some of these diddy offences to be dealt with if it directly affects you, eg some idiot driving past YOUR front door above the speed limit, or pulling out in front of you on the phone.

And I did also say that bad driving within the limit goes untouched. I assume you are traffic, so next time you are in Robroyston, change the roundabout behind which you skulk. Go to the one at the Asda entrance and start dealing with the piss poor driving on display there. Instead of doing people heading towards the M80.

I am no angel, I openly concede however in built up areas I do watch my speed, as do the vast majority of drivers I see. However the resource and effort put into this truly is out of proportion it looks like persecution and easy target policing. Just the same way as the school bully always picks the easiest targets.

Vastly diminished respect for plod from me, I am afraid - and I am sure I am not alone in this sentiment. Furthermore am friends with a few proper plods, and they too have a bee in the bonnet with traffic.....

Ah the imfamous ASDA roundabout

They should learn how to go round it themselves Traffic car sat in (stupidly designated) Inside ASDA lane on roundabout then chopped my nose off as he cut off at last minute across hatched to head for Bishy at 29.9mph

Now had I done that to them......
