I had free breakdown for a couple of years, but now needing to purchase something. Anyone have good/bad experiences from the big two? Call out times? Is there a good alternative to the AA or RAC (in Scotland, if that makes a difference)

Cheers

Ive been in the AA now for around 12 years and found the level of service very good.
Owning numerous bangers and a rusting old classic Ive used them more than my fair share and the guys have all been top notch, usually able to fix things there and then on the spot as they carry a stock of 2nd hand spares for most common makes.
Good value for money for relatively small annual fee.

RAC are the only one of the two that i regularly saw patrol vans from when i lived in Aberdeen. AA do a lot of subcontracting, which is ususally where problems occur.

25% discount for RAC on joining and ongoing annual fees if you are a TVRCC member! Touch wood not called upon their services yet.
