But how did you and Sam, and other significant competitors get on ?
Where to start? ...
... delves into excuses bag ...
First and second in the class were taken by fellas from down south (winning time 121.04). Colin Hodge took third (128.35) - good effort.
Our practice run was dry while the others in the class were out in the wet. This was due to not understanding the instructions given over the PA. I'd like to say I was fastest in practice but that wouldn't be fair under the circumstances.
First timed and it was pissing down. All I had apart from slicks were a set of ACB10's that appear to have turned to wood over the winter ... but we gave them a go.
Guess what? ... mud surfing at Clark's again.
Second timed was dry but no time to put slicks back on (mostly due to paddock layout and lack of paddock marshalling but that's a personal gripe).
Put in a 129.86 which disappointed me. I guess it was mostly due to having the off from the previous run in the back of my mind (excuse number 73 of 483). For reference, my PB (with the 'blade) is 123.24 (dry).
Sam got faster all day. Given the conditions and a couple of other factors, he did ok. He's a bit pissed off though that a Citroen Saxo went quicker than him - don't mention it, touchy subject.
FTD was unsurprisingly Roy Dawson with a 92.90. Wallace did a 103.94.
I don't have the times for the run-off but before we left, I think Wallace had made a 96.
Gary made 111.25 (10th) which is pretty impressive considering some of the machinery below him in the results.
Angus struggled to find grip most of the day and there's a blank for his second timed so maybe he went off.
Mod Prod cars was taken by Jim Kelly although you'd struggle to get a fag paper between him and second and third (John Stevenson).
The class you would have been in (kit cars with car engines) was taken by Frazer Bell with a 117.52 - that's quick!
You'll be happy to hear that Martyn tipped up. He was in fine fettle and made a good account of himself (I believe he smashed his PB). He was determined to compete on principle after having been refused a refund. He said that if his Westfield hadn't been ready in time, he would have entered his CRV.
The weather was absolutely terrible. We joke about seeing all four seasons at KH but that was really the case. From bright sunshine to sleet. At one time, it was tipping it down like I've rarely seen before. The wind was something else - gusting so hard Steph was worried about being blown over. At one point, she went to get us some tea. By the time she got back, the wind had blown about 1/3 of the tea out of the cups.
Steph points out that; "there was no discussion over whether or not to erect the gazebo".
That's about it but I can't remember being so happy to get a change of clothes and into a warm car at the end of an event. A pint in the Finavon Hotel was nice too.
Cheers,
Eric
David, feel free to copy or paraphrase any of the above.

Received a mail-shot from Wigton.
They say that next year they're not going to include the British class. I have mixed feelings about that.
They also say they're going to get their act together regarding paddock layout and paddock marshaling.
There's a thread on their website here.
Cheers,
Eric
