Here we go - Restoration begins!
Discussion
As promised, here is a video of the lift off.
Dad has had an operation on his wrist so couldnt be involved in the heavy stuff but thank god he wasnt as the handbrake cable caught the chassis!
Watch as we walk back and it rolls the car...
At the end my mate slipped back and it dropped the last inch...thankfully he was OK and the body looks fine too as it was landing on some foam...
These bodys are HEAVY!!!!!
Enjoy!

Well it's a bit hot to be working in the garage so making slow progress but done a bit more none the less!
Full exhaust system is off the car now - I remember when I took the manifolds off with the body on and WOW what a poo job that was! Took all of 15 mins this time!
One side of the rear is stripped and I've started the other side too ...
Gutted I don't have the car for this nice weather!
Think I am going to put another post but probably going to get new manifolds in stainless made up so my mild ones are up for grabs...
Some pics

Well that was a long night...I'm going to ache tomorrow morning!!
I was going to come in around ten but all the house lights we're off and swmbo went to bed early...good excuse for a couple ore hours in my eyes!!
So, rear is fully stripped (gosh that diff is heavy to shift on your own!!)
Moved round to the front of the car now and I have one side stripped down...
Loads of bits piling up!!
Cheers!

Been really busy with work, holiday and last week I got engaged!! I'm going to use the car as part of the wedding next year so that's a target at least!!!!!
not had too much time in the garage...Still managed a little though
As below, everything except for the engine and gearbox are off the car! A friend is coming over after work tonight with his engine crane so fingers crossed should be ready to take the chassis this week!
I have lots of bits now....!!!

Whatta lady!
Congrats both
She's a goodun...although gives me plenty of grief before I get to have fun (that goes for the wedge and the future mrs matt man!!) Whatta lady!
Congrats both
Golf clubs...yeah, they should go in the bin really...would suit my game!
I think red chassis looks awesome...loving the colours on yours!
I'm going to take the chassis to southways automotive http://www.southwaysautomotive.co.uk/SSC2/services... if you haven't seen their site they do good stuff!
Sorry al, realised I didnt answer the big question!
The chassis is going to be bright red, all other parts except a few (like the shocks and the driveshafts) will be black.
Then its just new nuts and bolts everwhere and get it back together.
Car is going to be the same colour again when I get the body back on

A little update on what i have been up to...
Gearbox selector has LOADS of play and although one of the nylon bushes (which has obviously worn and is now 'Not avaliable') i might have managed to get one...fingers crossed.
Diff painted
Steering rack touched up from where it was chipped - it was reconned in 2010 so still OK
I decided to mark my territory on the car! When i took the diff carrier off the underside middle section was clean and therefore hidden from the elements so i wrote on it my name and date! Never know, one day the car might have another rebuild and gets found!

Cheers guys!
I'm using a mixture of paints but the diff, hubs, rack etc (I.e anything that will get warm but not hot and needs to be quite strong) is in hammerite.
All parts on engine or right next to exhaust (e.g starter) will be in high temp engine paint. It's not as strong for chips but won't flake off with the hear...or that's the plan!!

Little update...cleaned off the engine and done a wee bit of painting...
Painted the sump too and refitted a new gasket as before it was on with silicone...
Had a cheeky delivery of parts today! Mainly a lot of bushes! Everything possible is polybush superflex
Managed to get the correct koni bushes..
Finally as I was going through all the packages in the box, noticed one which said 'a gift' and opened it up to see this!!
Thanks to the guys at David Gerald tvr who have been very helpful

Just a little update-doing quite a bit of waiting for stuff to be returned!
Everything with bushes have gone to a mechanic to get the old ones out! Not a fun job doing that so I was happy to let someone else have the pleasure
Shocks all look fine which is great news-once the bush kit is installed I will paint them up again...need to find out what colour koni shocks are - any idea? I managed to get some new koni stickers for them to finish them off.
I have had the clutch plates rebuilt and went for an uprated spec to make sure I can keep my traffic light races up to standard!
Other than that, been doing lots of cleaning and painting all the brackets before they go back on.
Chassis has been grit blasted and welding has begun...trying to be patient!!!
