Evening Guys
Well had a go at tuning the car today as was running poorly, so new plugs, reset timing and adjusted the carb, but here's the thing, the plugs which i removed where a sooty black and in my book thats rich, but when i leaned off the mixture the car just keeps on cutting out, so enriched the mixture and it appears to run alot better, any idea's guys

Cheers

Evening guys
Well had the car out this weekend and its still not running well, so have brought a completely new ignition system as it not alot of money and am getting a little we'd off with the missing, also the driver side caliper decided to seize up due to no weather seals around the piston and was burning like a winner buy the time i got home lol, still will get a new set and finish off the refurb which is nearly completed already, cheers, Ralph

Before

i think these got a little hot lol

This is what was left off the only on the front brakes

After

All cleaned up and ready for new seals

Hi Ralph - what ignition system did you go for? I think the calipers you have are M16s which you can pick up a seal kit from as there are plenty around...

I put the same ignition system on mine about 6 weeks ago, and it hasnt missed a beat!

The only problem I had was that the pick up on the side is opposite the vac advance and I cant quite get it to the correct timing, about 3 degrees out.!
I also noticed that the leads are different, 4 with straight connectors from the dizzy and 4 with 90 degree connectors, is this the same with yours?

I aso had to extend the 2 pick up wires!

Stu
If not Ill have to send Simon a message and get them swapped!

Hi Stu
Well the leads are the same as mine then mate, 4 x straight, 4 x 90 well that's whats on the car at the mo and the pick up does sound different if it opposite Stu, as mine are pretty close together at the mo, well it should be here tomorrow so i,ll report back and hopefully it sorts out my misfiring, please god lol

Ps just had a look and i see what you mean about the vac being opposite mate, could be a bit of a pig to place as my pas pump bracket does get in the way already
Cheers

Been out for a short drive this evening and its pulling well, no misfiring and is running up to temp, so thank god for that, its been a bloody nightmare one way or another and never expected to have to rebuild the engine, but it done and am really pleased at long last, cheers, Ralph
