Had a great day today and managed to get some more things done.

Had a friend over to help to do some of those jobs which are just easier with an extra pair of hands...

Also have done a walk around video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxdVjx_-QHU&fe...

I am very close to putting the body on!

I was deciding what to do with it for ages! I have ended up refitting the line that was on the as it looks absolutly fine and gave it a good clean up just to make sure.

Because of that i just assumed there was a reason why it did that route?!

Thinking about it I should change these and get myself a tool to do the job...silly thinking I could replace these getmecoat

Matt, do yourself a favour before you do - all those pipes that are cable-tied to the chassis....put something around them! Cut a piece of hose, or disconnect the union and slide some heatshrink along.
One of the biggest reasons I believe the powdercoating lifts is because TVR cable-tied the hoses directly to the chassis. A bit of movement = scratched powdercoating, moisture gets and in and it starts lifting off.

Rich
Hi rich-thanks for the heads up, much appreciated...

Do you mean put something around the cabletie or the hose?? smile

Lee-indeed I will keep hold of her! I'm never letting anyone have it now! Really looking forward to one day passing it down the family smile

I bought it when I got my first real job after uni when I was 21 so after 8 years she has become attached to me! I haven't bought a car for over a year... yikes

Wow...I know I said this when the body came off, but my god those bodies are heavy.....really heavy!! Here is the team ready for the job!

When we finally got the courage to go for the big lift, we had a moment where I thought it was all going to go wrong...we almost ran out of oomph and couldn't get it high enough! Thankfully we did and it dropped on...had to lift and replace a couple of times bit it's in. Front two bolts and the rear two bolts (the easiest one hehe ) all in now.

So here it is back on it wheels! Dehumidifier inside working its magic as sadly aster being outside under a cover for almost 5 months now so it's damp.

And here is is...look just like before!!

I ache.... frown but I'm happy inside! smile

Cheers chaps smile

Funny you say packing rubbers...I made a note of how many came out of each part and it's different now. Some need more and some much les. They are all new plates so rather than make it fit what I think is right I am just going to pack it up as I think looks good.

I'm going to try and get a good head way this week smile

Cheers chaps! Blaine, so glad your chassis was red as that's what made me do it!

Ok...I've got all the bolts in the chassis now, except for the seat belts which I need to do tomorrow.

Started the engine bay wiring and rewrapped most of the exposed loom to tidy things up...

The packing is odd...I think it's all good, amazing how the back needs lifting and packing...I had no idea those cars I've seen with huge gaps at the top of the doors shut line and small at the button could so easily fix this....or have I just told them?!

Small update...swirl pot, filters and pump are in and ready...just need to fix up the fuel line and return but I ran out of cable ties! That stopped the whole session in the garage! hehe

Engine bay is getting closer...all wires except battery, starter and afm are connected...

The garage is just getting to cold for my girly southern hands....!

I got replacement bushes from david gerald...the bottom ones are now polybush (everything is)...the top hanger ones on mine were ok but when I took them out they were a bit cracked so I swapped them.

Checked the reciept and they were 58 sheets for the rear pair and 25 for the lower pair...

Well it's been a while since I've posted...few reasons but mainly I had o have a small op a few weeks back so wasn't allowed to go near th garage...

All better now so spent a few hours out there and tonight....it ran!!!

Somehow there is a leak on the power steering pipe which I need to. Look into and bleed the clutch and brakes so it will move but I'm over the moon! Big step!

Hey all,

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted but its been a bit slow to be honest!

She went to longlife for the exhaust and then after that went straight to the garage I have been using for years for them to give it a thorough look over and check before the MOT

Brake master cylinder was leaking (only a few years old but I didn't seal it off so rubbers perished) so a shiny new one installed! Afetr that she sailed through the MOT this morning with absolutely no advisories.

After a terrible morning Of rain and wind,as I arrived to collect her the sun came out so roof down and a 25 mile journey back home with glorious sunshine!!

Quick stop of vpower...

The new exhaust is...er..loud! Idle and town driving is very similar to before but when you open the taps up,it makes a hell of a noise!!

Here she is back home! Need. To wash the road gunge off...

I absolutely over the moon smile

Cheers guys! I'm buzzing about it right now and really keen to get back to work! Got a few bits to do on top now but fingers crossed should be going in for pain in Feb...

It drove incredibly!the whole car is polybushed and I have to say on first impression I am very pleased although I drove home really carefully as the roads are filthy...

Very strange driving a car after that work and it feeling like driving it again for the first time... Especially as I have had it 8 years and done over 30,000 miles!!

Zig-i hand painted the engine parts...

just a little update. ..been taking the time to do bit of tidying so began on the boot.

I was amazed to find the electric aerial box was made of card...not only that but the original aerial box!

Carpet reglued and ready for the next 25 years...

ive always wondered about the boot release catch cable so checked it out..it was on the final strand!

I have always meant to fix the lights in the boot but never got round to it...I was amazed to find they are always on when the headlights are switched one?! I put 5w bulbs in as I dont want them getting too hot.

Also, I took a look at the exhaust...its quite small! Maybe thats why its a little louder wink

Little update....ive booked the wedge in for its respray! It is going in third week of Feb.

It is going to be the same colour again.

There is quite a lot of cracks which will be cut right back and re-resined to try to stop them coming back. The plan is to also try and get rid of the huge amount of ripples. Of course i will keep a diary of it smile
