Gents
the switch in my brake fluid reservoir cap has given up the ghost - does anybody know where I might get a replacement for this - the car is a 280i convertible - but I think a lot of the Wedges had the same type of cap.
All help greatly appreciated
Cheers
Ian

My wedge has exactly that switch, I believe it's a late (like mk5) Cortina , but I'm not absolutely sure....

I don't know if it's standard, but mine came apart with care, you can 'unclip' the outer plastic cylinder and get at the innards. May be worth a look

NB. there's very little clearance to the bonnet too, if I push the bonnet down on my wedge, the brake warning light will come on....

That's a great photo for those of us without Power Steering by the way - I see that's a totally special bracket courtesy of TVR !!

I used to have a 1994 ford transit and the brake fluid reservoir and cap looked very similar to the one in Zig,s under bonnet photo.

If all else fails there is a ford spares shop near me and they break a lot of old fords, I need to try to find a fuse link wire for mine and will see if they have any caps..Hopefully if it is dry tomorrow then i will pop in there and see...Ziga

Hi

It all depends what master cylinder you have fitted!
I have two different types on my cars. 1 is from a Ford, the other is I believe a Rover/Lockheed type. The Ford type is on two of my early cars, so thats why I said Ford as Marks is an earlies'h car!

I just wish I was at home as I have a couple of good used caps I could let you have between you.

Why don't you ask 1 finger bandit if he has any!

Andy

I think it might be part of the new changes with the MOT - I think someone said if there is a warning light on the dash then is must function so not sure you could remove and get away with it if this is true.

I have revised my dash to do away with unnecesary lights....I only have ignition, main beam & indicators!

I Have found a cap that fits complete with switch and flying leads - It is stocked by Car Builder Solutions and they sell them for £10 - very nice unit looks like it will be too small but fits perfectly - it is in their catalogue under braking and I think is the only one supplied with a fying lead so you can not go wrong.

Sorry it sounds like your sorted, but the OE cap was fitted to......

of all cars the Saab 99 Turbo, probably other cars as well, Girling parts bin and all that.

Clicky

They are like rocking hose poo, as there made from unobtanium! I managed to get hold of a new one about 10 years ago as I felt mine was discoloured, the fact is there not as white as the reservoir, Doh!

Chris.

Well, that cap definitely looks like it matches mine (early 280). I thought (but not at all sure) it also appeared on some Cortinas, but probably wrong on that. It's a small surprise it's on a Saab, but as you say the Girling parts bin covers a wide range of vehicles !

Incidentally - is that the infamous slant 4 Dolomite lump in there, with a turbo too ?
