Hi all,
Been a bit absent from the fourm, still been reading threads though.
I've finished the roof locators over the screen and hood

Now I need to replace the nylon lugs on the hardtop section, not sure if anyone has tried to remove one before but even when loose they are tuff to get out and they have steel inside them, anyone got an idea from what they have been adapted ????
I've got some nylon so if all else fails ill make some but I'll not be using steel it just rusted out.
Cheers
Adam

Hi Adam,
They look absolutely amazing, well done for getting them done, did you post up how you fabricated these ? I have a dim & distant memory of someone posting something about these on here sometime.
If you're ever in the mood for making another set of 4, I'd very definitely be up for buying a set from you, as they really finish that whole area off superbly.
Here's a pic of mine, these are the better ones frown

I've been looking at the "lugs" and I've not been as brave as you, in other words I've not taken mine out yet, I'm relying on the fact that there's enough left to hold the roof in place and after all is said and done, I don't drive with roof up (much) wink

Cheers and thanks for the pics thumbup

Here is the hole in the hardtop once the lug is out

As you may be able to see I've glassed along the front and back edges as the two skins that make up the roof were parting company.

Adam,

They look great.

How did you make them?

I'll also put my name down should you decide to start producing more?

Aha, Adam, found your original posting on how you made these!
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... just in case anyone else is interested?
Well done mate, they look stunning fitted!
I know what I'll be having a go at over the next few weeks wink
Thanks for the inspiration.
Wish me luck and I'll post up my attempts, if I get at least 50% of the results you were able to with yours, I'll be happy thumbup

Hi and thanks for the comments guys,
I think you should give'm a go,They are really easy to make if your handy with a file, the slot I drilled and filed and then glued it all together with fusal, then I wet'n'dried the faces and finished on the buffing wheel ( I believe Ziga has one of those;-)???)
I glued them into the body with sicaflex.
I think the lugs will be a bit more trying, getting them out was a bd and they are properly NFG, so once I've worked it out il post the outcome.....
At the moment I'm fitting the hardtop so it all lines up properly before I get it covered.

Then once it's all finished I can place it in the boot a never look at it againlaugh
Cheers
Adam

Mmmmm, looked into this myself, worked out a bit pricey as 4 items = 4 moulds = lots of hours.... the best option is to get the faces lazer cut and the inside made from U section with the ends capped and glue it all together, I'll look into it if there is enough interest.

I've finally finished the roof......well almost, I still need to find new rubber pinch mould.

The new alloy locators also create a good gap so there is no binding or rubbing causing the paint being worn off.
I've not really changed TVR's design I've just done it properly.
Cheers

Been reading the threads on the roof fittings. They look fantastic. But I'm confused! What is fusal???

I've searched online but not come up with anything.

Any thoughts?

Are you sure that's not Wombat spit and Kangaroo poo. I think it would have more substance. I suppose it depends whether you want a gap filling adhesive or not!!!

Sorry, it's fusor......
http://www.autolac.com.au/Consumable-Products/Fuso...
Not sure if you can get it in the uk, but I think you should
Sticks like its welded.
If you can get the glue they are easy to make, if you want I'll draw a plan and post it.
Refitting the nylon lugs in the hood panel is the hardest bit.
