Hi guys - already posted this on the TVRCC site. Does anyone know where the air vents at each end of the dash on the later cars came from? (they are narrower than the central vents). I plan on putting some in the same position when I re-design the ventilation arrangements on my 350i. Does anyone have any they would like to trade for beer tokens?!
Thanks very much

Hi Pete
I did reply on the TVRCC forum...I have been trying to find something since..(Again) but to no avail...I have been to countless classic car shows looking at every de-mister vent known to man from Austin to Zephyr, I found the small butterfly type vent in a Datsun but i have searched now for over two years for the vents and ashtrays...I even asked the man who was sourcing parts for TVR back then but he couldn't remember...Doh!...
What one are you after exactly as you might be able to retro fit something else...Like Jag or the like
Is it this one?...

Or this one?

Cheers...Ziga

Hi Guys - it's not the windscreen demist vents I'm after (although I do needs some of those as well!), it's the louvred/adjustable vents at the far ends of the dash - outboard of the glove box and instrument panel, that hopefully demist the side windows! Will keep looking and post up if I find any.
Thanks
Pete

Seem to remember I used these guys on my 400SE when the old ones fell to bits:

I went to them direct on http://www.fischer-automotive-systems.de and contacted them, sent them pictures and measurement etc and they had something available that was almost exact. Needed a little bit of fettling, will find a picture of them fitted and post it up
Not the most detailed picture but does show that their vents were quite close to the originals:

I am interested in the four windscreen vents. I broke one, and another has curled up a bit. Although they look the same two are left and two right.
Are there any CAD designers on the forum? I could 3D print the windshield louvres if someone can create the file.
Wilf.
Thats a good idea Wilf...I know someone who might be able to create the file...Ill keep you posted....Cheers...ZigaAre there any CAD designers on the forum? I could 3D print the windshield louvres if someone can create the file.

The sliding-top ashtrays are the same as used in the DeLorean (my mate has just brought two in from the States) and very similar to those used in Porsches of that era. However they weren't used in the Esprit which was in a lot of ways the donor for the style of the DMC-12.
If I had one of those screen vents in my hand I could turn it into a CAD drawing... though I'm not so hot at 3D.
ETA I think the black plastic vents were ex-Ford Fiesta...?

Evening gents.
I'm going to have a go cad'ing and 3d modelling the vents.
If successful I can then produce an .stl file which can be
Fed into a 3d printer..
Now.. the question is which vents to attempt to model.
I'm going to take the centre one of my 280i tomorrow and see how it compares to the ones pictured.
Watch this space.
Cheers.

Ps. Typed from phone so sorry for any mistakes above.

@ Ian...Did the ashtrays that your friend bought have the ribbed tops?...They were also fitted to the mk1 Mazda...Bongo but i cannot find one with the ribbed effect...
Only seen pics of the cars not the real thing so can't answer that... but in photos I've found of the DMC-12 interior they certainly look the same.Morning All.
Right.. over the weekend I had a look to see what the score was in terms of vents..
My intention was to removed the ones from the 280 but when I had a look at them, they are only molded slits on the top of the dash..

So, ended up taking a couple off the 350, ( sorry for the rubbish pic)

This one came from the right hand side of dash, the fins within are angled to the right - much like the one Ziga has pictured previously
They are handed left / right but if this style would suit the majority, then I will attempt to 3d it.

Evening all.
ok, may have a result. Spent a few hours over the last couple of days 3d modelling the vent as accurately as possible to 1.1 scale - angles / fillets / chamfers etc..
Hopefully have been fairly successful

Right Side

Have to wait and hear how the 3d print turns out.
