Around 12.30pm today, heading towards Hyde Park Corner. Pissing down with rain and you had the top down.

I salute you!

But what was that strapped to the back? Looked like a fridge door!

I set the scene, its 7am, its raining, and TVR Dave and i are planning to travel from Essex to Wiltshire to pick up a bumper for his Tasser. Do we:
A--Take the 3 litre omega with heated seats?
B--Take Daves Astra Weasle?
C--Take TAZ40 my 400 war horse, with the top down?

I laugh at you!! of course we Pistolairos took the 400!

A rare sight indeed - fantastic - remember seeing a couple going up the M40 in the p*ssing rain in a wedge - freezing and @ 70 mph with the roof down - people just didn't seem to get it.

Driving in the rain (hood down) is also my thing, but only by accident normally. I have 350i with a working heater, so the hood is always down in "reasonable" weather.
Just a drizzle is absolutely no problem. I can even recommend it.
And the looks you get...... They give you the impression as if you're coming from Mars (is that perhaps another word for TVR paradise?). Or actually make clear that they consider you to be mad. But in Belgium (were I live) driving an English sportscar makes up for it: you have to be mad in the first place to buy an English car anyway.
Rain - it also happend this weekend: hood down, and after one minute it started to rain (whipers in normal, but considering fast mode). Had a passenger (into motorbikes and nowing what it means to be out there in bad weather), and he really enjoyed it.
The rain doesn't bother me, it is the constant attention because the rear could let go..... and red traffic lights because you get really wet.

Yeh, I've realised if you keep your speed up then you stay fairly dry even in pretty heavy rain.

This was discovered when I was about ten minutes from work and couldn't be bothered to stop to put the hood up!

Yep, I had the same experience this morning. You get blummin' soaked when you park up and try and get the hood up though!

Pistolar -

I'm a bit nearer Hadleigh in Suffolk than Hadleigh Essex. Maybe see you at the next Dr. Feelgood commemmorative gig in Canvey though - May I think it is normally held?

Rev-erend - and to all Wedgers - Yes looking at putting together a sort of informal gathering - but don't forget the Mid Essex meet at Great Totham on the 2nd Sunday of each month - see Mid Essex TVR site. We need more Wedges! After all, it could be said that it's the Wedges that made TVR what it is today!

I hope to post some suggestions on the Wedge Meetings thread - presumably weekends only? Or are there some mad fools like me who drive these things during the week too?

vroom!

Apart from the water that creeps up the side windows and flings itself lemming-like on the back of your neck (in mine anyway) at speeds between 40 and 60 (well, you have to go through them on your way around the dial ) - Streaky

Edited to add that apparently some TVRs have non-removable roofs ... I pity the owners - S

Get to Essex in December lad and show us what you're really made of .

Have thought it might be an idea to set up a Wedge informal gathering at somewhere like Finchingfield which is sort of bang in the middle of everywhere which will allow peeps from Herts Beds a reasonably short run to come along.

Presumably a Saturday or Sunday is best?

Don't personally know the pubs over there but if say 10 - 15 or so of us turn up I'm sure they will be able to accommodate us?

Any takers?

Don't forget Mid Essex Meet 2nd Sunday at Forresters Golf Club Great Totham.

cheers!
