Questions:
1) Chaps on the SEAC the oil cooler pipes run across behind the rad to NS of the car then round the rad and back across in front of it to the cooler. On my 400 the pipes when straight round the OS of the Rad - any reason for the SEAC lengthy route??
2) The Jag AFM (Flapper)fitted to the SEAC has a huge bracket holding it in place - is this cos it's a big heavy beastie or would the 400/350 simple bracket suffice. (The heavy bracket flexes like heck on the Kevlar inner wing)
Please help!

Tas,

on the airflow meter front, just make up a bracket out of sheet aly.

After all it only has to hold up the weight of the
AFM, and it's not as though you're gonna pull more than
1g extra in any direction (fore, aft or sideways).

Mine is quite loose at the moment, and has shown no
intention of moving off into the engine bay.

My 390 (used as development car for SEACs) has simple oil cooler pipe runs ... but a non-standard radiator. I guess this doen't help you Tas, but just for information - Streaky

Tas,

The oil cooler pipes on my 390 are the same, across to the NS behind rad, then across the front of the rad to the oil cooler.

Cheers chaps,
I can't see any mechanical or thermodynamic reason for the routing of the pipes only that longer pipes means more oil in the system and also more surface area to cool it but the cooler should do this. F*** it I'll cut them down. AFM I'll fit the smaller 350 bracket but the inner wing will need a plate on the back as the Kevlar's gone all limp - ooer missus.

My 390 came with the oil cooler mounted in front of the rad but WITHOUT A THERMOSTAT!.
It overcooled the oil and caused the camshaft oil pump/distributor drive to fail within the first year.
I modified it to mount the oil cooler behind the water rad and behind the fan - this way air coming through the water rad gets warmed up a bit and then gets warmed up a bit more by the oil cooler - best use of available air. When in traffic the fan cools both.
I also mounted the oil filter the right way up and fitted a thermostat and temp gauge. I haven't had any problems since.

My 390 has the oil thermostat mounted to the l/h of the front cross-rail in the engine bay. The oil pipes then go round the front of the rad and across to the oil cooler.
The Jag AFM uses a different mounting bolt pattern to the smaller 350 AFM so the 350 bracket won't fit. I'm in the process of making a suitable mounting bracket for the Jag AFM I have for my car, now that I've made the hose adapter to reduce the Jag outlet to the size of the orignal hose. Or at least I WAS, but suddenly I seem to have been sidetracked by the Hethel monster on the drive...
