Sorry guys, I have done the search and pretty much now what to do.

how the bloody hell do I get the spoiler off my 350i s2. doesn't seem to have nuts n bolts. the fixings are special clever things, almost like rivets! Far superior to my simple brain.....

it started leaking after I taxed her for the sun and replaced the alternator GRRRRR!!

cheers,
Mike

If you go in through the headlights you can get at the tops of the bolts - and see what you are doing! If it hasn't been taken apart for a long while the bolts will all be rusted up, so an angle grinder will make short work of them (but be careful not to go through the bodywork!)

I hate the idea of Wedge and angle grinder!! But what must be must be....

So does it really have to be pods out?? I suppose it will be good to get them out and lube them up.

There was only 4 bolts holding mine on. I'll take some close-ups in the morning. I replaced them with new ones and their holding solid. Might be worth drilling/cutting the old ones out and replacing them with bolts.

Are the spoiler mount points fairly universal over the years?
I wouldn't mind bolting on a shorter (horizontally) spoiler
if I can. That one (above) appears shorter to me than mine does because
the fog lights aren't nearly recessed as far back. I'm concerned
about scraping the bottom of the spoiler entering parking garages
and such where you might have to drive up a ramp.

I have already read here that the later style (ie: 400se)spoiler
wont fit properly without flairing the wheel wells to match.
Will the model shown detached above fit my 87 390se without mods?

Yours is longer brap brap, I think wyns beastie was originally a 350i, whose front spoiler isn't as deep as the 390..

What you will find are some rusted self tappers or rusted 10mm nuts and bolts. Don't waste time trying to undo them just grind them out. Its best done without the pods in - in fact its the only way to do it! When re-assmebling drill new holes and use self tappers. I used a trolley jack located in the centre and jacked up the spoiler into place lined it up with the wheel arch and drilled in my new holes before screwing it all back together. Should take about 30 mins all in.

PLUS GAS!!!!!

Does noone use this stuff? This is THE best product in the world...EVER! I have never bought a product which actually does 'what it says on the tin' and save me in so many jobs!

I couldnt have done half te jobs on the wedge without it.

Its a rust release product, which is now avaliable in a spray. Also, the spray is amazing-about 1M with perfect accuracy!
its avaliable in all GOOD motor factors, and before anyone asks, WD40 doesnt compare!

eg - www.lawson-his.co.uk/scripts/details.php?cat=Lubricants&product=30700

(PS i dont have shares in the company but should do!)

Great stuff - I use it myself. I "acquire" it from work.

That's standard o/o the factory gate: two bolts on each return, use plenty of washers, inc spring ones. Don't like the idea of self tappers at speeds around 140.
