I just got a call from Ettington Chase : I was fearing the worst - you know things like : burnouts in the car park, taking up all the room in the car park (wedding guests) parked on the grass, bringing our own booze etc..

But they said they were happy that we enjoyed it and that we all loved the venue. They even went as far as to say we are welcome back new year.. :D

Tell them we'll buy their booze if they get some decent ale in and halve the prices.

That is great news !!!!
So next year a burn-out contest !!!
For practical tips you all can contact the "Blackpool on the Rijn" team from the Netherlands.

What if we get some barrels of our own and put it in the BBWSV? Speak to the landlord of the White Horse, i'm sure he'd oblige! That Summer Storm was quite decent, and rather apt for the Saturday night.

Cantus fella, I wish I had more time to have a good chat and a beer with you and your mates, you made my weekend with your rolling 30meter burnout!

Perhaps we could come over to you sometime to practice some burn-outs??

MikeB

ps. Got the car working in the end (well the AA did! ) - bloody wire off the starter motor from the immobiliser.

Now this is a weird thing - I know the bar prices are high - but I bought a pint of Stella and it was £2.95 and that's cheaper than my local pub.. perhaps they only charged me for a half..

Nice burn-out.. real shame I never got a change to speak with you guys but that just gives me someone else to talk to next year - as I missed out this year

Hope you all got home safely.

He'd be even happier if we held the BBQ in his beer garden and supped his ale at the pub! How about it Rev? I thought the BBQ was well overpriced for the quality, (although at least there was enough for everyone this year).

I think the Chase would draw the line at offsales on their carpark though.

Blimey, they charged me £2.80 for a substandard pint of Boddingtons. I'd have gone on the Wifebeater with you if I'd known.

It's well worth considering .. never even thought of it to be truthful..

I thought the price was OK and the quality.. they seemed to run out of food last year but were fine this year.

I've been to pub BBQ's and they have charged a tenner as well - seems a pretty standard price ..

If he thinks he can cater for 120+ then then discuss that for next year only issue is really that we would all have to leave the car's - which many might not want to do..

One of the reason's I 'hard sold' the BBQ was to leave the local pub as a back if people did not order BBQ tickets in time .. plenty of idea's for the next time.

Your right Rev, people won't want to leave the cars en masse. Kirk and Ali at the White Horse asked me to pass on their thanks to everyone for their custom.

I guess I'm just a tightwad northerner.

Now that's an idea that might well be a good one. Might be in time for LeMans 06 ? Enough room under side for a few barrels and we might not run out of water then for the tea / coffees

If anyone ask's we weren't selling the beer, it sort of escaped out of the BBWSV on a donation scheme !

You wouldnt be selling it at Ettington, you'll of sold it in advance, you'd just be supplying it like this year. The BBWSV would have to arrive a day or so early to let the ale settle though, ale's only a good as its kept.

Warning!!! Achtung!!! do not be fooled by Cantus and Gun Metal - they are on a secret mission to buy up ALL the Big Bad Wedges and take them to Holland.

Seriously guys we should make the effort and take a trip over.

They are Having a do at Blackpool on the Rijn on 17th Sept. Cheap flights are available from Leeds/Bradford airport which is 5 mins in a taxi from my gaff. Have a look at the low fare finder on www.jet2.com I'm going, anyone else up for it? We could put a few up in spare room, sofabed etc.

Yep, next yar two seac's from holland.
We try to make more guy's to came over next year.
Also we take some new tyre's with us, I heard from cantus that there will be a burn out contest.
And yes Dicky we will buy all the seac's in the world.I think yours will be the third in Holland.
The blast home was awesome, no James Bond on the road and no camera's at all, we drove in 2.5 hours.
Would be nice if some of you will be here on the 17th of september.
