My neighbour is in need of a water pump for his 1990ish 350SE - 3.9 non-serp engine.

We took the old one off today and the bearings were so worn that the impellers inside had worn a hole through the outer casting!

Does anyone here know of a good, sensibly priced supplier of these pumps? After doing some research today, I think its a standard Rover SD1 unit rather than a Range Rover one. The Range Rover casting is a lot bigger on one side. Also, on the pump we took off there is a smaller rubber hose connector (15mm?) as well as the main rad hose connector (40mm?) - see pictures. Do they all have this "extra" smaller hose connector?

Halfrauds were useless, as were the main motor factors around here. There also does seem to be 3 or 4 different types out there depending on age/type of engine application. Wheres the best place to find a new pump at sensible money, and does anyone have a decent spare one laying around that they want to sell?

If you can help, let me know and I'll pass the details on.

Thanks in advance,

Dan.

Its an SD1 Vitesse unit. Got mine from RPI a couple of months back. £75 plus vat & delv. Unipart GWP2149. If you get it from them, ask that they send you one of their own gaskets, as the standard one is crap.

Thanks for the recommendations - I've passed them on! Seems as well to buy a new one at that money I think.
