How to get the seats out of a 280i?
Discussion
Dave, crawl under the car and take the nuts off the 4 studs.
At least mine was as simple as that but it seems there are a couple different types of seat brackets used on the 280i as I think the Wedge bible shows cutting a wrench to fit down into the channel. Hope yours is a simple as mine. One note though as the studs are welded into the bracket on mine if you have any rust issues on the bolt you might break the weld and then have to cut off the stud and nut. Lube it up real good with some of your favorite rust penetrating oil first!!! You getting your seats recovered or going with a different set up. I'm quite happy with the miata seats I put in mine. They rub a bit on the inside and are about an inch higher but are so stinking comfy! The drivers side bolted onto the TVR bracket just fine and went into the existing floor holes. Pass side I had to enlarge the holes about an 1/4 inch out.

I'm scrapping the car unfortunately and somebody has expressed interest in the seats so need to remove them carefully. All the steering bits, some suspension, diff, shafts etc will be retained to keep my race car on the track. The body is being chopped into quarters and going to another racer who will use it to patch up his car. Any other bits are being sold on to anybody who wants anything.
