Anybody here have a TET rear bumper on their 280i?
Discussion
Yeah I'm not expecting cheap shipping but it seems Marshall isn't doing well again as I haven't heard back from him in a couple of months and you need to do what you need to do when you want to drive it. Will send them an email. I'll be kicking myself though as I would've liked the euro early front bumper too and if I'm paying for shipping for one, adding another one isn't too bad. Problem is I'd have the side holes still in the freshly painted car.
Standard car bumpers are one-piece GRP. They have two steel brackets glassed-in to attach to the shell. From memory the US version has a rubber insert (yeah, that'll make all the difference when a one-tonne car shaves you off at the ankles
) but I don't know if there's a mounting variation or extra reinforcement as well.
I think only two or three US-spec Wedges not actually in the US ever make an appearance on PH...

I have a later front on mine, pic in profile.
It was done by a company in Maryland, it came from TET and is definately not rubber
There is also another Black 280 with a later front, he used my previous profile pic for his advert on E bay.
Cheeky bu66er could have asked. I would have agreed.
Cheapest way to ship may be through a car importer. A container holds two cars and a motorbike, it shouldn't be too dificult to squeeze in a front or back, or both, for $200.
Shipping them would be a lot more.
Containers arrive at Linden, North Jersey, close to NY. Not sure how close you are to NY but I can get you the name of the agent if you need it.

That's a nice variation... no actual bumper, Renault sidelights, plus 390SE Mk2 air dam... which looks like it has the wheelarch flares incorporated! It was done by a company in Maryland, it came from TET and is definately not rubber

Originally the US cars had rubber inserts running the full width... like this one:

I seriously hope all is well with MarshallThanks for everyone's concern. It's been a difficult 5 months or so with some health issues but I'm turning the corner and trying to get my business focus back again. I have the Euro front and rear bumpers on my 84 280i and they have worked out very well. You can see photos in my link on Restoration of a Barn Find 280i on my website www.cmw-tvr.com
