lets do some proper roads instead of boring A470 ?
maybe to Usk > Raglan > Monmouth > Abergavenny on the B roads

well yes, i am wondering what roads to use. our last brecon run was slightly moist, and the more i think about that one road between brecon and builth, the more amazed i am that we all came out unscathed. the biggest problem being really as we also found out last time that we couldnt keep a big group together and we did loose a few back runners, so ideally we need atleast 2 groups with definate instructions on where to go.
thoughts please
And back on topic>>>>>>
Please read wonky's route and anyone with any comments, problems, alternatives, alterations etc etc speak now or forever hold your peace

suggested route with a bit of everything
A470 > the Storey arms Pass where we can stop for a coffee at the burger van
Storey arms Pass > Brecon > Bwlch > llangynidyr > Blaenavon (over the top gear test road)> Abergavenny bus station
stop and re group at bus station for coffee
Bus station > raglan ( on back road ) > usk ( on back road ) > Caerleon ( to back road ) > M4 > home
reckon about 4 hours run including 2 x 20 mins stops

is it a phase 1 per chance? (orange front indicators)
i've not had any problems like that myself so cant be of much help. Id suggest trying to top up the gearbox oil though. Its really easy to pull the n/s driveshaft out and lose some fluid when changing front suspension. dont know if this is what happened, but wont do any harm to check anyway

we'll all congress at junction 30 and in a commitee style, decide wether its worth it or not. It maybe the case that we should go somewhere less mountainous to avoid the ridiculous weather. But we'll see.
Timmer, email me your mob number and i can keep you in the loop on the day if you like

At Abergavenny, Chris in the TVR suggested a pub lunch but when we got to the pub, no-one else arrived so we decided to call it a day and headed down to the M4.
i was stuck behind some traffic, but i could see timmers 205 and the crx well ahead so decided to follow. it didnt click that the big pub on the left was probably the intended destination. as such we got caught on the most stupid road ever with nowhere to pullover or turnaround so i gambled to go home rather than turn around and try to catch up. Apart from that, it wasnt bad. Surely we've had as much luck as is possible with the weather now!
Anybody fancy another Jolly in those couple niggly days after christmas instead of just sitting in the house eating all the extra food you bought for the 25th. Perhaps a tunnel run sticking to the main roads avoiding as much grit and slush as possible
