I enjoyed it, but got a little bored mid afternoon and left early. The selection of cars was good and really nice to see (I remember Japfests of old where I had to walk for 20 minutes just to pass the endless blue Subarus), but I feel it was more luck on their part than good organisation. It does need a bit more of everything I think. The trade stands were virtually nothing just the sponsors of the event and small ones at that.
I can see your point but like another show I do every year the key to its success is variety and some track action going alongside a showXaero said:
It was my first time watching Time Attack and I was expecting a bit more drama and excitement too. But without a sign up showing timing it's difficult to work out what is going on, especially when cars come out, do 2 hot laps and that's it for their 15 min session. I should have followed it using the app really. I did like the amateur feeling that I could just spend a few quid and get involved though. The clubman competition seemed a little too obvious though, virtually standard cars and a Nissan GT-R enters, so it didn't need watching to see who would win.
Commentating around the paddock was a bit hit and missNeed a big electronic number board showing current car positions like nascar

I did like looking at the RX-7 and Evo with the boot completely cleared out with fans in the back though.
I'd go again but it needs a bit more support to be interesting.
As long as they don't have that rocket powered mini back again - it made a mess of the barriers and caused no end of delays last year I'd go again but it needs a bit more support to be interesting.
What specifically would you want in terms of support??
More traders? - they were giving away trade stand space for free - I guess the issue is what other events are on at the same time
More show cars?
Anyway last of my pictures
Some F1
Some panning
Seemed like I could have picked a better place for flame out shots
Nice facilities provided to the F1 cars
Expensive issue
Followed up by quick response by the marshalls (prompted by the public to put the fire out)
Back to F1
So a smidge smokey
And at last I got the shot I was after
One interesting point is John - the driver of the Benetton F1 car - is 66 years young - I hope I can pedal a car along with that much confidence when I'm his age
That's all folks thanks for looking in
What a tremendous day! Thank you for the invite, BC
Ear piercing F1 cars, insane Time Attack cars, great show cars and wonderful people. The weather was even superb. I couldn't ask for a better day out.
Great to get the old girl out on track again, with no leaking this time! Temperatures, tyres, and gearbox all worked without complaint, with no fade from the brakes whatsoever. Superb photos, too. Thanks for sharing!
