It was common for many of Lotus's higher end models to be first registered as "Directors" cars. The Exige S1 was initially slow to sell and a significant number were registered to Lotus for use by staff/directors etc as company cars.

Always nice when you find out something about the provenance of your car. All good stuff for the folder that just adds to the value and history of the car smile

There were obviously lots of testing/spare Co cars and from what I hear Lotus's used to pass through so called directors like the wind, but to have a respected head of engineering hang on to it for over a yr and fettle with it is far better than being called a ex "Directors car". In my books anyway. smile

Aah so the guy who contacted you was actually in PERSONAL care of the car for a year or so? How did he find out about the sale/move?

Are we being watched? boxedin

Haha bloody haha think yr a bunch of comedians do we aaaay???

Come on..... the theme I want something to with 70's heavy metal, rock (music), missiles and rockets or thereaouts. Something sexy with adventure uno

I liked what George called his S1 Elise, like silver bullet or Silver Missile is cool.

Names I have rattled in the hand bag so far:
Thunder
Silver Missile
Precious hehe
Big beast

Simons response is:
Heated towel rail rolleyes

Off the name subject and more tinkering. I got hold of Simons drill ( yes I know I was allowed to use it and can use it so shut it tongue out). Positioned front plate in place with new SS bolts. Took off the front mounting plinth and wiped out all the UK muck that has been caught in there, replaced more corroded bolts with SS ones. Pulled out the side indicators and clipped in new ones and the front indicators as well. Now all back to std as they should be.
Tom will tackle plenum bolts, take em out one by one obviously and clean and coat them so they look new again. Should make this area look smart.
I need to airbrush in some fine chip marks of the paint on the side on the plenum, so must get the blue colour code for that and get the local to make me some.

All good !!

On the missile theme how about 'Ballistic', or 'Big Ballistic' as it would be known here wink

Some inspiration on the rock theme here maybe: http://www.digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/best_guitarriff.html

Saw Memphis* this afternoon and also got to experience it from the pax seat.... what a BEAST smile Sooo much torque from the engine at all revs, just keeps on pulling and pulling. In a straight line my Exige would have to stop and ask directions as to which way it went! Handles soooo well for what is a very big, wide car. So much plushness and comfort too... quite probably the best grand-touring supercar I've been in... makes a Lambo of similar vintage feel like an antique tractor. smile

  • We'll continue to call it Memphis until Kylie advises us of a more suitable name wink

Woohooo. Finally back from dinner and airport dropping lads off destined for windy Welly. Been an awesome afternoon looking at two very very cool cars. We went for a nice cruise into vino country out west and took it all in. We could have just kept driving all day, its easy to just do that. The boys really loved your car George and you impressed them how you managed to unfold your tall stature out of the car hehe Honestly they couldn't believe it. The American visitor said to Simon, I think he's a got a tire problem?? Meaning bit slick aren't they. Don't worry Simon put em right on that. And we thought he knew his cars!
Cant wait for a true blat around Puke. The car will shine there, although not on rock hard Pirellis yikes Must be careful.
