Been meaning to take a photo of this for a while. Effortless elegance in Old Moulsham.

Happy NY smile

Good stuff - I drive past that most days. It's driven by an older chap - pretty sure he also has an R109 SL as well.

Was the water level higher when he/she drove through?

I’m thinking Hydrolocked.

Witness marks from the last flood suggests it was around the three foot...so I think you are on the money with the hydrolock theory.

Fairly safe to assume a she, by all my subjective evidence in buttsbury wash wink unless its a taxi driver...recent one wants the road shut because they are moron.

...however if this is hurrells lane then perhaps not...

ironic link there TC, wonder what those 2 were doing there that late...scratchchin

i must confess i didnt recognize it as hurrels lane at first glance, but then i haven't ventured that way for over 15-20 years, since mates and i piled inot a car and drove down there one lunchtime in 6th form as no one believed me and we got chased back (no lie), and before that forewarned by father to never venture their alone (as he knew the farmer), me having been on a walk with my old dear and gran a number of weeks before and commenting on the surprising number, unique demographic and odd behavior of people in the middle of nowhere (relatively)...

Each to their own though, but really not what you want to discover on a country walk and the detritus isnt exactly nice (i dont mean the old merc 4x4)...maybe its all changed now!

Nearest i have been there in the last few years is mtn biking down graces walk or road biking along hammonds, and when danbury was mentioned my first thought was sporhams lane.

Anyway i thought hurrels (and sporams) had signs up saying no through road, or unsuitable for motors (even though neither are, just very poor road conditon from memory) to discourage drivers?? this chap clearly had other things on his mind!

The two chaps lived at the old Croft Stores opposite the Common car park, so they were taking a short cut home...never heard of any nefarious goings on and I lived in Bicknacre for 20 odd years and have been riding at the common for over 40, so know the area like the back of my hand...I'm guessing a dogging hotspot?

The story I posted is from a while back - from memory it caused some fuss due to some damaged, expensive shoes & use of the the fire brigades time in attending.

I once (inadvertently) went through that ford in my Pug 208 - not something I plan on repeating.

nearly.

cottaging.

surprised not heard unless things have changed in the last 15 years as was rife, although the undergrowth was cut back (rather difficult given the woods/hedges) as much as possible in the surrounds...i know LB parish council were taking steps long ago.

a cursory google on my phone, not advised on work laptop, suggests its rather well known still.

Given they are local should have known better! wouldnt even attempt it in the pickup.

i once saw some pillock making an initial foray into the terling ford where i was swimming the dog, and the local gypsies were watering their horses, it was summer so not as high as usual. some people are just foolish.

I did not know that, and this suggests you are on the money, clearly led a sheltered life laugh

I think that was the crux of the story - along with a good, local dose of schadenfreude!

When they spent loads of money converting Croft Stores complete with a roof terrace I'm not sure the local blue rinse brigade were super happy biggrin

dont go getting any ideas wink

i'm gonna cycle down there in the spring i think once its warmed up a bit as my interest is peaked as to what its (the flora) like now!

when we were chased/followed back to the yeomanry way RB at G Baddow by some bloke talking on a walkie talkie in as he was driving, it rather put me off...as 17/18 yr olds furtive/less accepting/enlightened minds we assumed it was some sophisticated system for the nefarious goings on, but may just have been old bill...
