I have always wanted to emigrate to the US and whilst on holiday in Orlando a few years ago I decided to ask a police officer I saw wandering around (who funnily enough turned out to be Scottish!) how to go about it... he said basically I had two hopes - the first is to go in as a nurse... cant handle blood n guts in the flesh so thats a non starter, and the only other way would be to marry someone.

Anyone have any better suggestions (although a husband would be lovely

Hmm... well as I work for the police I dont think they can transfer me...

Dating site... hmmm I think they'd notice I was trying to move over there and steer well clear.

But thanks for your assistance in any case. I will keep searching.

Maybe I need a new job??!! I am a great secretary (but I guess my spelling over there would be a bit shot!)... but then anyone can be cant they!

Funny, I was just thinking maybe Canada is a better option or something and then move a few years later... but I guess that would have similar problems for entry...

Hmm... I'm not a police officer, I just tell em what to do...

And yes, I did see that we are not eligible for the lottery this year... and probably the next few years to reading the comments!

Thank you all and keep suggestions coming! And if you know of any lovely single guys lookin for an English rose... well, wife in any case, let me know

I work in dispatch... I tell em what to do and take 999 calls.

Would they take a Brit though?? I would certainly love to take a job like mine over there!!

And I have secretarial qualifications which means I can be a secretary too... although I dont know whether they would be recognised over there... RSA Qualifications...

Thanks muchly I will do. I have just been reading up on a few job descriptions... but most of them say you need to be a citizen and have a local working knowledge of the area you will be working which of course, I wont have... I will not be defeated though, will keep looking!!
