Oatcakes and cheese are worth a try. Apparently 100 years ago when Stokey soldiers returned from time in India they asked their wives to create chapaties, industrious lot that they are they turned to oats and hey presto, it's a staple of the Stoke diet and seamingly nowhere else (they taste nothing like chapaties btw). They are cheap and filling especially if your a student around those parts

I am now thinking if it worth me coming along as i do not offer any consumer type services, or provide any services that any major services that business would use.
I am im the process of setting up as a freelance consultant but it is in a very niche area. with a niche market (i.e. central and local government departments) so i dont knwo what value i would add to the discussion...

Over the past year we have had lots of people who have come along, thinking that maybe they either don't have anything to offer or that what they do is too specific for this forum to be useful to them. Everyone who has come along has pretty much come away with their head spinning with ideas and new contacts, I can hand on heart say that no one has never turned up and presented something, sought answers and not got anything useful back, it's staggering the amount of resources and knowledge and capability at these meetings. It would be worth coming along and seeing what happens, worst case you just meet a new load petrolheads and enjoy the beer selection, best case we solve all of your business 'challenges'

I may try to pop down tonight, and possibly bring the OH as she is much more switched on than me, although i do feel i fall firmly into the "not much to contribute" category.
I will even try to arrive before everyone is getting ready to leave this time.

they are becoming so busy that there is plenty of space for people who just want to sit, listen and drink, and even occasionally say ''rubbish'', ''that's brilliant'', ''I'm in''...

Gus, it can be incredibly useful just to have people there to bounce ideas off. You may be a potential consumer or customer of products and services that people are considering.
I certainly value getting as many opinions as possible from as wide a variety of people as I can.
that was the more intelligent response I certainly value getting as many opinions as possible from as wide a variety of people as I can.

Well if OH says it's ok.
Another good meet last night. Really interesting to hear what everyone's up to and the very simple challenges we all face.
Hope some of the Wednesday mob are going to join us next time around. Bit of a shame to move the meeting to accommodate people who don't then turn up Let's not let Steve down here - he's been great at keeping the momentum going.

Thanks Ted. I really enjoyed it and was so pleased to see ideas genuinely moving on. And, it's good that some people turn up with a desire to create something and make their fortune, but don't currently have an idea. That in itself is a problem that the group can probably fairly easily solve, not only that, it's good fun to do it and even if what eventually succeeds looks nothing like what you started with, each month if it is potentially tweaked and improved upon, with such a good bunch of brains at every meeting the idea should quickly be steered on to a course that will ensure the business works.
Thanks Ted, it's been a long old slog and my wife insisted that 'this is the last one (business)', that I had to go back to climbing the greasy pole and that she'd be very annoyed if I invested any more money in the ideas. So it's potentially at least a way out of corporate life. See you at the May one then and good luck with Tedvertiser, it's a brilliant website, I'm already an active user
