http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/309942.htm - Aygo is much nicer and cooler than a yaris if you ask me, I also think they're a giggle to drive!

60 Mpg is much better than the KA! Bit slower than the KA, but guess I won't have to worry about speeding tickets.

All pish taking apart mate try out both from a car hire co on a days hire and compare them.

If you have trouble with them hiring you a car with your age etc pm me and we'll sort something with the hire co we use down here they know me too well....ahem. IMHO the yaris is a better car than the aygo and don't choose YELLOW eh Eric hehe

All the more fun to drive on the doorhandles. Seriously - blag a testdrive at a Toyota garage or have a go in a hire car for a day. These little things are an absolute hoot. Try hard enough on a damp surface and you can acheive four wheel drifts with a little practice. Brilliant.

Will this need to be a daily driver? As a Student I didn't use my car that much.

Am wondering what kit car insurance would be like at your age?
I can't speak from experience, but a friend of mine about 4 years back decided to build a kitcar aged 20. I was told that insurance on the kitcar would be cheaper than his 1.4 Vauxhall Astra and apparently the reasoning was that if you build a car you are less likely to crash it. Can anyone confirm this?

In regards to the age of the car I was going to suggest a fettled classic mini cooper but as an everyday car is may become tiresome, especially on the motorway!
Can't say at age 20, I am almost double that. Still, I was shocked (in a good way) at the insurance for my Stratos replica. 200BHP/tonne mental 2 seater, £295/yr fully comp assuming 4k miles/yr. I didn't build the car either, so that isn't a factor (I thought it would be).

I have a sort of built in hatrid for the Yaris, don't know why, where as the moment I jumped in an Aygo and drove like a loon it had me grinning like an idiot.

20k miles a year? Forgot about anything that will keep up with us lot, buy something cheap and fun and enjoy it. Spend less than £3k on the car, get TPFT insurance, and run it for a couple of years. The money you save on fuel and insurance and so on you can put towards something really nice for your 21st wink
Sounds like a good idea, as I don't think i'd like putting 20k miles on something nice.

However, I don't think i'll be able to get anything nice until after uni, which will be a bummer. But at least then insurance will be low.
I wouldn't count on your insurance being lower. My premiums seemed to go up until I hit 30.

You've got a long way to go until then....

And don't forget to factor in points on your license!

Don't think that was me actually, don't remember going out last night.

Have seen you around a fair bit though Jon - always nice to see the GT2 out and about.

If you accept that you probably can't afford to buy and insure a new-ish hot hatch what about one of these? A bit off your brief but all could give a couple of years fun motoring.....?

Just bought my lad a Seat ibiza 2.0 - He loves it and it goes and handles well with cheap insurance for a 19 year old. But the 1.9d ain't much slower! Good luck with your hunt.

Smart roadster?
There's a current thread about them somewhere.
Ins. Gp. can't be very high with a 0.7l engine but great fun.
From recent experience I doubt you'd keep up with some of the organised hoons, though!
