I can't decide, so any thoughts welcomed.

These are the new wheels and tyres. Not sure if they are Defender or Disco (possibly safari model?), but they are exactly the same size as the originals.

This is the Disco, wearing the original (ES Freestyle) wheels

It would look a bit like this if I swapped the wheels as is (albeit with bigger AT tyres).

The question is, do I:
1. Put the new set straight on as they are (without any cost for changing them)
2. (option removed)
3. Swap the new tyres onto the original wheels, but without the white lettering showing

What to do??

Whichever set I don't put on the truck will be sold on with 4 legal road tyres, so I have no option to swap them back if I change my mind. The original ones should fetch reasonable money as they are immaculate thumbup

Edited to remove one of the options wink

I prefer the look with the original wheels, so swap the tyres over and flog the new ones.

Just to be awkward, I like the original wheels, with the new tyres but without the white lettering on, can that be done?

Yes, the tyres are not directional, and only have white writing on one side. You just mount them with the white on the inside smile

I always thought the original wheels were best, right up until I posted the above photos. For some reason I then liked the look of the silver ones scratchchinconfused

I agree the white writing doesn't go with the original wheels (or overall original land rover look), so if I change them over it will be without the lettering showing.

Edited for spelling

Just collected the wheels from Paul. I'm still smiling at the fact his truck has its own BARN to park in, and still only just fits biggrin
Cheers again Paul!!

He also brought up a very valid point about swapping the wheels.
The nicely re-furbed and painted originals are not going to look quite so hot with their new scratches after the first days off roading through mud, gravel, trees, etc. The alloys however could just be hosed down and look the same.

I'm could easily put the alloys on and bring it to the Ace on Monday, then decide once I have had a chance to see what it looks like. The silver wheels do look a LOT better than the above picture with standard tyres on.

This decision might be function over looks yet!

Some searching and asking around has determined that the silver wheels are TWR alloys (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) from a 25th Anniversary edition Range Rover Classic.

Given that I think I'm going to keep them, provided they are the same offset and fit ok.

I have some AT2's on my P38. Watch out for the speedo if you have upsized a bit. I went from a 55 to 60 aspect ratio and the speedo then under read.

I'm thinking 1 inch, mainly to save having to change all the brake lines for longer ones wink

It is currently marginally under 2m tall, which means any lift would exclude it from loads of multistory car parks (including my work building!).

Still considering it though hehe
