Car decisions - time to sell the 911...
Discussion
I have a friend with a similar age and mileage B10 saloon, bottom end went (not massively uncommon on these engines) and it cost him £££££ to get it sorted.
Or i can buy an AMG which only has rust issues and the odd gearbox problem (entirely preventable with the appropriate maintenance) for £10k...

Sinc, it's a nice idea.
I have alwasy wanted a G33 though, and i really do like it. I can see lots of plans for it long term (respray, possible engine switch to SBC, stuff like that) and having hankered after one for so long i plan to keep it. Having also had a bike engined car (which i thoroughly enjoyed) i know the v8 roadster is much more me. If i replaced the G33 for something else it would likely be an Aero 8, but i can't see that happening for a long time.
As for the daily driver, i considered a cheaper daily hack (an E320 coupé for example) but i think i'd get bored of it too quickly. I don't need to free up the capital in the 911 either, so if i thought it was worth spending more then i would, but in all honesty the primary purpose of this daily driver is to get me from Bracknell to Maidenhead and back during the week, and the odd 100/200 mile motorway schlep at the weekend maybe every other weekend.
Quite a conundrum is it not?

Well, having been round and round in circles i think maybe i am going to keep the 911 and the bike and sell the Ginetta and get a v8 wagon of some sort.
As everyone has pointed out if i sell the 911 it'll be a matter of weeks or months before i buy another one and the Ginetta just isn't getting enough use.
So the v8 estate budget is now £1k to £12k - ideas welcome.

TC has it - i've gone all sensible...
BMW 330d SE (Auto) Touring - drove the Sport and it was too stiff, the 911 is more comfy, so went for the SE with 17's. Very impressed, plenty of torque for the auto box and crazy economy, and a really nice car to drive. Makes the 911 feel all the more special too.

Paid four figures for it and it's got 65k miles, silver with grey leather and climate.
Bought in Swindon and averaged 43mpg on the way home!
So by xmas hopefully we'll be down to 911, CBR1100, 330d, and Polo.
Unfortunately that means the little G car will have to go but i'm just not using it so what's the point in keeping it?
