In case you miss the pics thread, here's the G50 now.

Absolutely and totally love it!

TVR eat your heart out!

as much as I love Ginettas... I have to say that I'm a little dissapinted by the new G50.

I was expecting something more modern, but with the influence of its heritage design as the g4-12 and g20.........but instead it looks like a badly rebodied panoz.

I like reboies, and the Panoz is a very good sportscar to base on a new Ginetta, but they should have refined the design further, and make it more unique to the brand.

Let's hope the productin version, if it comes to fruition, gets a facelift.....

It takes time to work out a new design direction for a brand, especially for something as charismatic as Ginetta, will wait for the MkII..........but mkI isn't worth the asking price.....frown

It's got nothing to do with panoz. It's certainly not a rebody.

having sat in LNT's Le mans winning Panoz last year, I think that the G50 looks smaller and lower. The shape also looks a bit like a TVR 350, and a BMW z4 coupe, I think that cars of this size and type often end up with similar profiles.

That is true.........but this shape, if it goes in production, in my opinion it needs more of the Ginetta design heritage.

I can't see much of it, on this first prototype.....

and do you know on what chassis or platform it's based ?, is it a custom designed chassis, or a G20 Coupe stretched chassis ?

i agree with you there. But if its good on the track and built well for the road then it can onlt be good for Ginetta.

my opinion is that it looks more like a US-Car (dodge-viper, corvette...) and therefore has lost its identity....the design needs more "typical" ginetta patterns to make it a real ginetta again.

I agree the styling isn't from the british sports car stable, and looks of american origin. I've yet to see it in the flesh with lights etc on yet so will reserve judgement. Certainly not as pretty as a TVR T350.

Mind you I think that they are missing a trick with the G50. Instead of having a ford V6 lump in the front, they could get a 300bhp Honda 4 pot engine mid mounted with 6speed gear box and the radiator/cooling in the front like the Elise/Exige which I guess would be cheaper to build and a very quick car.
You'll not get an "out of the box" Honda engine to do that. Supercharing it will wink

I must admit I really like the look of the G50 and really hope they do a road version.

Unfortunately the price seems to have jumped, I thought it was going to be about 35K now its 39K +VAT. Its going to have to be good.

For a road version... I said somewhere price is everything. If they got the price right they'd sell shedloads.

'IF' what you say is correct imo they won't even get a solitary TVR owner to jump boat, because they will simply buy in the secondhand market another TVR. The market is full of 'em.

£45 grand...? that's too close to the race car. Are you sure that is the price of the proposed road car?

If so they will sell some... full stop.

Missed opportunity.

Thats the price on the Ginetta website. It'll have to be turned out nicely and trimmed exceptionally well but I doubt that will happen.
