Especially considering what Lotus are about to launch at the motorshow for circa £45k....
Indeed, but then I think they are rather different propositions.Edited by james111s on Monday 14th April 11:56
There is the space Marcos used to inhabit... but then they went bust for a reason, as have TVR.

The potential is enormous but the price imo is too high.
The current state of the economy and fuel prices have to be factored in for a road car, even if it is dual purpose/come track day/competition.
Of course, there is always a market.
a market for everything... but at the right price.
I am still convinced with the demise of TVR, Marcos - and are the Caterfields now starting to be eclipsed on the track by Ginetta which now seems to be grabbing all the headlines with the G20 and Ginetta Juniors (for 16 year olds) in budget and beginner racing? Week by week now in motor sport mags, and on TV the Ginetta racing is becoming prominent.
Who else?
Lotus - they need a 'new' car.
Noble seem quiet.
And the other hangers on who appear once a year with a show car...
this means a market is there and this car could sell shedloads in terms of a specialist car IF it was in the 30 or sub 35 grand bracket.
But 45 grand?
My opinion for what it's worth, they will sell but in what numbers? (I think their aim is for 300, so perhaps LNT think this is achievable?
Possibly it is).
At 30-35 grand imo it would be!

don't you all really think that its going to take some doing to get a decent well built road going sports car out of the slightly unsubstantial and dare I say it 'thrown together in 6 months' race car that I had a close look at the racing car show? Absolutely fine as a race car but can they really get the quality of build of the late TVR's immediately and with one car start taking sales from Lotus? Hmmmmmm.......the stakes are very high for ginetta - lets hope that they've got the resource to get it right.
I thought I would throw in my two chips on this topic over the recent discussion. I have not seen the car but . . .
This is not a tvr. This is not a marcus. It's not a car with all the development the Lotus Elise Mk1 had. It's like a G20 or Dare g4 or Dare G12. I doubt Ginetta will carry much inventory and only build them when an order or two comes in. The fit and finish of the cabin will be very limited - not like a tvr or lotus more like an Ultima GTR. It will be very close to a race car. The car is expensive to buy but should be cheap to run and maintain.
the other thing is - if you think a viper is a substitute for this car then you just don't understand this car and/or the panzeresque viper. The G50 is very light w/o drivers aids iirc. Your wife might like a viper or even a tvr but she will most likely not like driving very long in this beast. G50 is classic British sports car build and design.
Cheers
