my identity is no secret... people with half a brain cell know who others are on here.
BYE
Oh dear! Perhaps some of the people with half a brain cell will lighten my darkness?BYE
Geoff
David, hijacking Nina's account yet again - must remember my own password (there goes that braincell again)....
PS: as I said before, I only brought it up as a bet, to see how long it would take to generate a response. Personally, I don't care where the cars are made or by who - at least they are getting made .....

The G12 that has been talked about on this thread and is being offered for sale as a Ginetta with a Ginetta chassis number is blatantly fraudulent (car ringing)
I wonder what the previous owners think to this, I can remember this car being offered for sale at half the current price because it was a made up car with no chassis number and offered for sale in that condition. I wonder if they feel they have been taken to the cleaners.
I remember this car racing in SR> a couple of years ago and the big mystery then was why it was sooooo slow...! Most of the other cars usually lapped it a few times - I remember its best time at Brands was a 58 secs. About six seconds off the pace. It seemed to have all the right bits and on paper it should have been quick - there were two drivers as I recall - but neither could get the thing to go and they eventually gave up. IMHO that's what you get with a pretend car - proper G12's built by the Walkletts have a raw natural speed. I have a suggestion for Broomstick lady/man - as you appear to be a Ginetta affectianado, you will obviously have a deep seated admiration for the guys who designed and caused to be built, the Ginettas of old. So, why not ask them for their opinion on the "copying" of their G4, G12 and G16 models? If they are fine with this, then so be it. If not, how about an apology from you or do you think, to use your own words, I am just having a bet to see how you respond????
Captain Sensible has not had the temerity to contact the previous owner and knows nothing about the car or its past owner, instead making totally uninformed judgements about the car and driver. The owner who in fact was virtually the only driver apart from a shake down drive by someone else.
The speed of the car had nothing whatsoever to do with the build quality, for which apparently it always received the highest praise from the scrutineers and from Ivor and Mark Walklett. Having spoken with the driver at different meetings he said that he chose to drive within a pace that he felt comfortable with and was not out by his own admission to break any lap records, but to have some fun in a car design that he admired. The full performance of the car was perhaps never therefore fully put to the test, making it pure speculation about its true potential.
Does the dear Captain race I wonder, or is he /she just another ringside commentator, should that be the case then perhaps they will don a helmet and show us not only they too have the bottle but also how it should be done. Certainly they should make sure of their facts before going to print.
The Winner is also quite correct that I too recall seeing this car advertised within the GOC club site giving its true and full history so as to hide nothing. Having spoken with the previous owner it seems he took the precaution of getting the new owner to sign papers testifying to its heritage prior to the sale. I just wonder in light of this last fact, how the current seller is going to justify the sudden appearance of a chassis number that was not there beforehand.
However none of the foregoing makes a jot of difference to the fact that the factory now seems to be supporting the building of cars that they know they do not have the design right to, and I wonder how they would respond to someone creating numbered chassis for their LMP or G50 cars.

The facts speak for themselves, unfortunately at some point in the future some poor sole is going to be relieved a lot of cash for this car and probably others (possibly future barn finds)that are fakes. Let's hope no one here gets duped.

i wonder what the lotus boys would think of an unauthorised person blatantly knocking up elans and putting chasis numbers on them!!
Given their history, Lotus probably wouldn't give a damn. They certainly didn't about the 7. Selling the rights to it as they did to Caterham cars, but also giving their blessing to Birkin in SA to make them. Caterham certainly took exception to it mind you and successfully went legal on Westfield (who up to this point made an unchallenged 7 replica), unsuccessfully on Birkin... However Westfield still produce a Westfield 11 kit that people often badge as a Lotus. Indeed someone recently had new bodywork made for his genuine Lotus 11 using Westfields molds as a template. Lotus certainly don't seem bothered about that.Edited by juansolo on Tuesday 6th April 13:14
