Just read the thread from start to finish.

I have to admit that I have never been a Ford person and Mk.3 Fiestas even of the turbo variety leave me completely cold.

However, I completely take my hat off to you over the dedication, hard work, and commitment you have lavished on the car. It is a complete credit to you, I don't know how you have stayed so focused!

There was a guy who did a similar nut and bolt restore on a late Saab 900 "Monte Carlo" convertible a few years back, reckons it cost him well over £20k.

When it is all finished definitely get an agreed value insurance policy on it.

This thread makes me sad because I know that I will never have the time or skills to do this myself frown

By the way, fantastic garage!

Very, very kind of you, thank you.

I have been tied up with other things over the past week or two so hope to finish the Fiesta shortly.

I've only just seen this thread, don't think I've seen it before anyway!

Are you on fiestaturbo.com? Don't recognise the car/username I don't think.

Car looks great from every angle, I have a Mk3 project at the moment but things are a little slow. Will be keeping an eye on this now.

Hi Mate
I do use Fiestaturbo.com but have not done a thread like this on there.
Use it for advice though

Cheers

Just seen this thread after looking for some Kuga advice for my sis..(don't ask)

I lusted after these cars during my teenage years, so I have a soft spot for them. R5 GT Turbos' too.
What an absolutely cracking job you have done bringing back one of the best hot hatches of the hot hatch era, back to life.

Truly superb. Kudos to you fella thumbup

Well the Fiesta was picked up this morning on a low loader destined for the garage.
A few jobs will be finished before being MOT'd; naturally unless there are any problems.

I temporarily fitted the number plates this morning and the wheel centres are not fitted but all the same it looks good:

Before leaving:

Off she goes!!:

Great thread. I've been thinking about doing the same with my RS. I have done a nut/bolt restoration on bikes before but not a car.

After reading your thread I'm not sure I would have the time.

Well done on a fantastic job especially the paint, that is not an easy thing to do.

I would love to be able to paint at home; for the sort of low-cost, high-rustiness cars I enjoy it would be really useful. I will have a look back through this thread and see what sort of paint and equipment you used to get such a great finish!

I just went all the way back to the start and re-read this to this point.

Amazing doesn't really cover it....

Would Ford UK be interested in purchasing this car? I wonder..

Anyway I hope that it doesnt end up a garage queen and is driven for many many miles without incident or accident.

Well Done Trooper you have achieved what the rest of us could mostly only dream of- the time factor alone counts me out of doing anything like this .

Don't think Ford would buy it because it's not original in theyre eyes?

Yeah it actually works, hasn't got any rot, and is shiny.

Having owned 3 fords now, all had "issues" drove brilliantly, and had rot, somewhere, even at 3year old

Absolutely amazing work, one of my all time favourite Fords. Not particularly fast by today's standards, but one of the coolest looking hatches ever imo. Staggering attention to detail and pure grit and determination from the OP to restore to such a high level. Would have been very easy to drop a modern engine with freely available parts in there, but to soldier on with an old engine that Ford don't really support any more is admirable.

Thanks guys, some really excellent comments.

I called up to the garage today to see if they have sorted the final couple of jobs. He is pretty busy but said that it should be going for an MOT next week. He had done the tracking the best he can without it being laser aligned (it will be later)and he had driven it.
He said it went well and all seems as it should.

As soon as I have it back I will give it a full clean and a polish before putting up some final pictures.

At times it was hard work but it really is partly due to the comments and advice on here that has helped!

Cheers
